Slightly unfortunate that a question from a viewer mentioned on Bang Goes The Theory just now (concerning whether you stay drier if you walk or run through rain) had been the subject of a feature on the One Show which preceded it.

And was covered in either Mythbusters or that Sky show with Richard Hammond.

Or perhaps both.

Deary me.

And as good as it may be to do something different, my main thought watching it was what a waste of money, rather than must watch that show.

It's part of an BBC Learning (not Open University as I had previously thought) drive, so it wasn't such a waste as I'm sure parts will be replicated over the country (as I think I remember reading that they were touring this project).

I attended the " tour show " in Bristol last Saturday. Very interesting.

Good on the BBC for putting something different on. ( Finally! )

I reckon this was a complete waste of time and the BBC should stick to making factual documentaries and period dramas - ie. what they're good at.

It brought back science to the primetime, so no... not a complete waste of time. The BBC should branch out and innovate in what areas it can (and in areas that are relevant to the public) I think. If people want what you say then we would have BBC4 as BBC1.

I have never watched this programme. Why? Because of the live trailer that they showed, it didn't work so why should I expect anything on the proper programme to work, also I believe the 'presenters' are far too enthusiastic and should be presenting CBBC not a primetime programme on BBC One.

Right! Firstly , Tomorrow's World it's not. However , I quite liked it when I watched last night. Having heard enough about it to make up my mind that I wouldn't like it and would consider it "science for thickos" and dumbed-down nonsense, I watched and generally enjoyed last night's show. I think, given a second series, some time to bed in, the bonds between the presenters to develop and the format of the show to settle slightly, I think this could be a really great show and actually well suited to BBC One. I was an avid viewer of TW throughout the 80s and 90s but it was clear at the end that it was somewhat stuck in a rut. This is a good attempt IMO at reviving popular science programmes on mainstream television and jumping on the bandwagon of producing accessible, entertaining and interesting OU programmes (compare with programmes like Coast for example). I wonder if the show would benefit from a 'studio' audience (like Top Gear) ... the links all seem a little contrived to me ...
