That’s what I would have thought, but she’s someone who could expand the appeal for Bake Off, whilst the younger demographic might like her in an ironic way enough to not alienate too many.
She could record travel logs* in the week or other times of the year and even if it’s slightly off brand I don’t think Channel 4 would turn down something they see as a ratings banker.
*Edit: Oh, I didn’t realise what you meant by touring until I reread the post!
Is it shot at weekends to allow the contestants to maintain their day jobs? Otherwise they could just change the recording day?
I think in retrospect she is unlikely to present bake off, she's probably touring most weekends when it is recorded and she isn't really a C4 type.

Its hardly a secret that the show is recorded at weekends, you can sometimes catch snippets of dialogue when they slip through that imply the recording isn't done in one long block like I believe The Apprentice is. I don't mean the standard "this week" or next week, but sometimes a "tomorrow" slips through.
Junior Bakeoff may be condensed into one day's filming most probably, since they don't have whopping great 5hr bake times like you sometime see on the main show.

In terms of Radio 1 it’s the complete opposite, many shows were in recent times changed to be double headed and additional shows such as Weekend Early Breakfast were added. Therefore reducing on air talent costs is not on their agenda.

Yes, no reports at all that she has left. I do like Dev and Alice but considering if one is off the other hosts alone and the show doesn't really suffer from it I'd have thought in the current climate if Alice did leave that Dev would go solo.

She never was - as TV Forum rumours go Jane McDonald hosting Bake Off would be C4's worst signing since Ortis Deley.
There are rumours Jane has been poached by a rival broadcaster. I think in retrospect she is unlikely to present bake off, she's probably touring most weekends when it is recorded and she isn't really a C4 type.

It doesn't slip through at all, the fact that the Showstopper round is a different day is part of the narrative of each episode. In fact I'm pretty sure they show the bakers walking into the tent for the showstopper.
The fact that there's a week between episodes is openly mentioned too, they'll talk about how they've been practising the bakes at home in the week

They film over the weekend and the same clothes thing is just to make it easier to edit the two days into one episode
There wouldn't be enough time to do all 3 rounds in one day, it's often 9 hours just of cooking time. With time for setting up, clearing up, filming the judges chats around the table, and interviews with the contestants, plus breaks and all the other faffing around that TV filming does that's a long day. A 13 hour filming day would be bad enough for the crew but very tough for the contestants.
There's only a few weekends there'd be enough light too but only if they started filming at 7 or 8am and were ther were there no issues in the day

Why would there need to be enough light? They've filmed before when its pouring with rain outside. Surely there's lighting in the tent required to illuminate things?

When was the last time you watched Bake Off and it was night-time outside?
