I do think one of the big flaws of Sky's platform is the inability to delete or move channels, and was one of the reasons I switched to Freeview. Finding a decent programme amongst all the trashy channels is like finding a needle in a haystack. I know the Favourites EPG goes some way to address this, but it'd still make life a lot easier if you could remove some of the rubbish.

I watch Sky using my non Sky receiver, and I do have the capability to delete all the rubbish out Cool

So do I, and I thought everyone did now. Perhaps Spencer hadn't realised they were about to introduce that feature before he switched to Freeview Shocked

So you can now do that with a Sky digibox, or are we still talking about a non-Sky receiver? I thought you could only delete adult channels from Sky. Ah well, the only thing I really miss not having Sky is the ability to watch other regions.

This is the kind of thing you should never be able to get via Freeview. Unfortunately, you can. Smile TV is only on for 3 hours a night, and they fill it with this kind of crap. Why the hell doesn't Ofcom introduce some kind of quality rule for Freeview? Everybody is going to have to switch to digital soon, and if you go for the terrestrial option you've still got to put up with this being pushed on you. OK, you don't have to watch it, but when there's not a lot of space, and the qulity of the mpg is poor, why the hell are they allowed to sell the space to channels that just show pointless crap, like shopping channels and Smile TV? The space / time could be used a lot better.

Sky can do what the hell they like as far as I'm concerned, but Freeview should be pure quality.

To be fair, it did only replace UKTV History's overnight 'Returns at 6am' caption. Would that have passed your proposed quality rule? Wink

Yeah! Laughing

Seriously though, apart from the fact you can choose to 'interact' with the woman on the couch and use the dating service, is there much difference between a holding caption and Smile TV?

If they want to use that spare time from UKTV History, by all means they should use it, but give us something worthy. I'm sure there are better channels out there that they could sell the time to.

I'm suprised UK History doesn't just repeat some of it's earlier schedule between these hours, surely that would be a better use
