Just read this on DS about Doctor Who's nominations but spotted a line which surprised me.....

"The hit British family show is once again up for Most Popular Drama, competing against axed drama Bad Girls..."

I know about the so-called E-mail from Shaps but not heard about it being definitely axed - is this true???? I know DS can be a bit dodgy with its reporting

It's not officially been announced but long before the reports of the e-mail it had been reported that the latest series would be the last.

Well ITV seem to be getting rid of a lot of their long running drama's at the moment such as Where The Heart Is, Rosemary and Thyme and Footballers Wives, so it wouldnt surprise me if it was axed.

ITV have quite a few new drama's next year lined up havent they? Surely they will replace them. I very much doubt soaps would be shown in the 9pm slot (although with ITV and their obsession with so many episodes of soaps a week you never know! )

Must admit I did enjoy this latest series of Bad Girls as I felt it did get itself back on track and was more or less the same as it was in the first and second series - story led with little or no OTT storylines. Bad Girls did become self-obsessed with the everyone hates Fenner storylines and that did take it out into surrealism.

Yes, because that's what Simon Shaps' job is? Axe dramas, replace with soaps.

ITV have already revealed some of the, quite frankly, brilliant dramas in store for us next year. Much more daring than the dramas we've seen in recent years, and much like some of BBC One's recent hits.

If Bad Girls has been axed, then I'll be sad, but not surprised. I did enjoy the recent series, but it's not as good as it was in it's heyday. Much like Footballer's Wives, which lost its way during Series 4. It was a return to form for the final episode (FW that is), but too little too late as they say. Sad
