Does anyone have any of the backing music to any of the BBC One Balloons. I think the Millenium Dome ident has a good tune. If you have them could you send them to me? Also if you have any comments on the music or the acyual balloons, feel free to reply!

I was happily listening to the balloon music just before the soft voice of the announcer on BBC1 the other day, then seconds later BOOM-BOOM! - Boompity-boom, Boompity-boom, and realised BBC News 24 had started.

I too, like the balloon music, but the tunes across BBC News is awful, and ear-shattering. Whens the next revamp of BBC News, then hopefully half the nation wont be suffering deafness thanks to BBC News. (Could this be a secret ploy to get more viewers to watch See-Hear?)

It's nearly impossible to get this music without an insider (ANY BEEB WORKERS - PLEASE LOYALLY 'BORROW' THIS MUSIC FOR US!!)
I've tried writing to the Auntie, but to no avail - they fob me off with the usual cobblers: 'Due to copyright reasons' blah blah blah. anyway, I've been trying since 1997 to capture this music, and the most I've managed to get is 11 seconds-worth of music (which is used on the spoof balloon final descent ident I made - see the Features page).

Anyway, happy hunting everyone!

The BBC News themes are fantastic. They all follow a close order, the sounds are the same but different and the titles all follow closely to each other.
I don't think the BBC have ever come up with anything this good, and although seemed strange at first it has become very popular!

The balloon music is rather nice .. it's grown on me over the years. I only have the original 97 idents - none of the current newer ones.

That's a fair few you've got there Smile Has there really been 97 different idents? I suppose if you include the special ones as well.... My favourite balloon music has to be Skateboard - what an upbeat tune!

I love the BBC News music - I think it goes well with the style the programme took when it changed back in 1999.

Will probably stay like that style until the BBC News Centre moves again in a few years time back to Broadcasting House in Central London!

I've been to everysingle page under the bbcresources domain and there's no sign of them. There's a BBC MediaArc website where you can view three announcerless bbc 2 idents but that's about it. I'll check the normal bbc website for a section.
