Hi - As you can tell by my name, I'm a fan of Monkey World down in Dorset. This week we have had the news that Channel 5 are dropping the next series of Monkey Life which, would have gone out in Feb/March time. The filming is almost commplete on this 4th series

Anyone who is a fan of the show and would like to see it's return next year, would they please write to:

Not only is the show entertaining and educational, but it also raises awareness of these endangered animals and primates held in cruel conditions around the world.

So please if you love to watch the show, show your support by contacting FIVE.

Thank you for your time and fingers crossed everyone Smile PS - You can also show your support on both Twitter and Facebook. Thanks !

I did read not so long back that Monkey Life had the highest viewing figures for the 6.30 pm slot out of the main five channels. As you say, hopefully 'Live in Studio Five' will soon meet it's maker - I really do hope they are not paying these three 'top wack' ! Mad Mad Mad Mad

I am surprised they're axing it all together, I think the ratings were better than Live from Studio Five gets and it's the sort of series that can fit just about anywhere. Of course the series was just a reincarnation of Monkey Business which used to run regionally on Meridian so who knows another channel may give it another go.

Hi Ben - lets hope another channel pick's up on it, would be nice to see it on BBC2 alongside maybe Meerkat Manor, think it would fit in nicely with a regular slot.

Could you perhaps persuade another broadcaster to air the new series? I know my family was very interested, I'd rather have a conversation at dinner, but Monkey Life must have been much more interesting if we had to watch it every time!

You could try and ask Virgin1 to air it, they don't really have anything new on at the moment.

Hi - yes good idea, I think Virgin would be quite approachable.

Monkey Life may well have got good ratings for 5 and be a very worthwhile programme but it definitely wasn't the best-rated programme in its slot on the main channels!!

The BBC regional programmes get a collective total of 6 million... the ITV News 4 million.... Hollyoaks and some of the programmes on 2 get about 1.5 to 2m. Monkey Life got about 1m I believe.
