I'm glad they axed Sky 2. I couldnt see the point of it. It was just Sky 1 but not on 24 hrs.

I also think The Weather Channel should come back, but all the presenters like Carol Kirkwood and Philip Avery are all with the BBC now.

.tv - even though it hasn't gone yet! It should definitely not be axed.

I remember The Weather Channel - I used to watch it in the morning before going to school - didn't their set change according to the seasons? I seem to remember the winter set being a dark blue and black mix?

My vote's for The Weather Channel!

I think the set was always the same, but with a snowy/sunny... picture behind them. The set was only ever seen on 'Weatherscope' though.

The Weather Channel had two main looks, the original where all the programmes had a blue logo like the main logo, and later when it used gold text.
I've got loads of it on tape, including a menu of the hour's features, I might type it up, if there is demand!

Although it used Goodlife's transponder, Breeze was really a combination of Goodlife and TalkTV.

The Weather Channel is still around in the US, where it came from in the first place.
Sky 2 was simply something to get Sky more money.
The promo stated how Sky have too much crap for just the one channel, so started a new one to give you even more rubbish.
But the idea was a little more sinister! The point being that cable companies had to pay Sky to carry Sky One. Sky thought that by launching another channel and putting some of the better stuff on that whilst keeping some other good stuff on Sky One they could get the cable companies to pay them twice, because they would have to pay for Sky 2 as well.
It didn't work and whilst some cable companies did take Sky 2, they realised it was all a plot to get them to pay more and so some withdrew, meaning it was costing Sky too much to keep 2 going, it was closed.
