BBC Three in my view is for 15 - 18+ content.

I'm not debating that. But you suggestion seems to be something someone who is quite detached from the target audience would suggest.

I completely agree that we could do without BBC Three and BBC Four. I loved the dramas that Four have commissioned but that's going in favour of more factual programming, which could easily have a home on Two.

BBC Three is an embarrassment which has mainly produced programmes which could sit quite nicely at 1am on BBC One.

Obviously. This whole public remit discussion is in the hands of the BBC Trust, and people much older than me. It is then down to the channel controllers to commission or acquire the content which fulfils the remit, and appeals to the target demographic.

Why not Axe four and put said programmes BACK on BBC two

The majority of BBC4's programming was never on 2 in the first place and would just disappear if 4 was axed.

Three does have some excellent stuff on it, and it performs an important role demographically for the BBC.

However Radio 1 is turning into a video channel so I expect that BBC3 will be part of that strategy

Presumably not available in that form on FM and DAB.

Give some examples of some of this 'excellent stuff' which couldn't sit just as comfortably elsewhere.

As far as I can tell Radio 1 isn't focusing on people listening that way as much as they are pushing online.

Well it needs to do both. If it's need to go into video to reach it's audience, it should do that.

Radio 1 shouldn't be serving the needs of radio, it should be serving the needs of the target audience with radio being one of the delivery methods in it's arsenal.

It's always a 50/50 it's a joke/it's serious risk responding to posts on this site.

BBC Four has been fantastic for showcasing European drama. If left to BBC2, it'd fester in a post Newsnight slot.
