Kate Thornton was okay. Could have been worse - it could have been Tara Palmer Tompkinson. She was on the ITV2 show with Tim Vincent - she was completely wasted so I switched off. Rolling Eyes

A nice programme, but the idents on the wall seemed fake-ish - the image for Southern included the wrong font, as did Granada and (I think) Grampian.

Also the Southern compass didn't have the extended south point.

And i'm sure the ATV ident didn't have the right font.

Brill show - full of old pros, which is what ITV used to be about.

The South Bank Show that was on after about Eric Sykes was even better!

Anyone got the list of stars then!

I only saw a bit of it - surprised Ant and Dec got a star each, they usually have to share.

Didn't really watch it though out of protest at Ricky Gervais getting one for being behind one of the most over-hyped sitcoms of recents years!

I can't believe Des O'Connor didn't get a star!

I thought it was rather nice that Chris Tarrant dedicated his star to his father Basil, who made an appearance on the National Television Awards as the Phantom Flan Flinger in 2000, but sadly died earlier this year.

What a shame that ITV managed to get hold of the Uk walk of fame! They absolutely slaughtered an idea that could have been smart and sophisticated and turned it into a cringeworthy, vomit inducing cheese fest. Chris Tarrant did his best in front of the most stereotypically z list audience you could imagine but he still made me want to hide behind the sofa out of sheer embaressment...and don;t even get me started on the opening titles. It looked like a 20 year old advert for an American news station. I just think its a shame that some of the greatest entertainers from this country had to be so publicly demeaned in this latest of ITV's disasters. Twisted Evil

Not that you want to overstate it Rolling Eyes

I didn't watch it, but I can scarcely imagine a *tasteful* way to do a Hollywood style avenue of stars.

ITV got the job because they came up with the idea, surely?

Michael Hurll came up with the idea, and pitched it to both the BBC and ITV.

Obviously ITV snapped it up and decided to tie it in with the whole ITV 50 thing.

I get the feeling this Avenue is going to be cramped on its launch! How big is this venue?
