And at the end there notice it was made by an indie. "Michael Hurll Television".

And people always complain everything is made in house by Granada thesedays. They had nothing to do with tonight's show

Cilla Black is brilliant. She should really have an ITV chat show. And she was very nice about ITV considering they dumped her ass.

I agree Cilla is a true star.A nice Sat night chat show with her would be just superb.

A double header with Paul O'Grady......they worked fantastisc together!!

And it showed.

Owned by Noel Edmonds' "Unique" I believe.

Oh no, that would be a load of self-indulgent tripe which would exclude the audience. Cilla can host shows on her own quite capably.

I don't think Chris Tarrant was expecting to get a star. He was really overwhelmed when Kate Thornton presented him with his right at the end.

A nice programme, but the idents on the wall seemed fake-ish - the image for Southern included the wrong font, as did Granada and (I think) Grampian.

A shame they weren't TV screens, with animated idents.

The Idents on the wall were a bit odd yes. What was also odd was how so many were missed out. Why keep Border in and leave out Thames? Unless they were on the other side of the stage of course. But we never saw that side.

So will this avenue have BBC stars otherwise whats the point of it?

The avenue had its fair share of BBC stars. The show tonight just highlighted the ITV part of their careers, for obvious reasons.

Michael Hurll being the man credited with coming up with the idea. Well its not exactly original but I guess it was his idea to bring it to the UK.

Great show tonight, very awkward but Chris kept it together perfectly. Nice to see Dionne Warwick singing on the South bank. The Ant and Dec 'Millionaire' bit wasn't necessary I thought, but funny nonetheless.

Cilla and Paul could have hosted the evening! They were absolutely brilliant! "Look at this! We're standing on a bloody sewage works here kid" Come back Cilla!

The audience seemed to be the same audience from last night's Gameshow Marathon! What with Frank Carson and Sheila Ferguson etc.

Eric Sykes and Bruce Forsyth still entertained the crowds.

How long we got...?

Congrats to all the people who got their 'stars'. Where was Des O'Connor? Wink

Although the show seemed fairly good, I turned off after the first 40 minutes and went down the pub.

It was fairly amusing. Ken Dodd and Shirley Bassey were just bizarre. As was the strange handling of the "late" Lenny Henry clip.

Also I felt a bit annoyed when it was claimed the show was a "live" celebration - BBC News Online had been reporting for the last few days that Michael Caine has recorded bits for the show... though I don't doubt the rest of it was live as much of what I saw was a bit of a shambles.

Chris Tarrant - excellent choice...
Kate Thornton - why!? She's an awful presenter and belong in the bin with other simpering presenters such as Cat Deeley and Anthea Turner.
