Staying on the topic of Tyne Tees, but going back to the authority announcement, I've seen clips on youtube, I think, but it could be TV-ark, with a different type of announcement. As already mentioned, TTTV, before news programmes, would have the announcer say "Serving the North east and North Yorkshire, this is Tyne Tees Television". But, Bill Steel made one such announcement, before the ITN News, saying "Serving the great north of England, this is Tyne Tees Television."

It got me thinking, for the morning startup, prior to 1983, did each ITV Companies announcer follow the same script, or did announcers vary it slightly? I'm excluding the funny xmas day incident at Tyne Tees involving Colin Weston, showing you how not to do a start up!

Well I say how not to, but it's a good job he did, as it provides us with some fun!

Tyne Tees varied the announcement a little - Bill in particular was known to say 'the IBA - that's the Independent Broadcasting Authority' and vice versa, and adding a 'good morning' before the announcement - but the content of the AA didn't change except for when transmitters changed or during the bizarre 'north of England' era.
