In the Tasmanian market, meanwhile, WIN News is moving to 5:30 p.m. The Tasmanian edition is a combined local/national/international newscast because WIN Tasmania doesn't get a capital city newscast (Tasmania is its own state):

Will be interesting to see if WIN News rebrands at all. WIN very much keeping their own Nine inspired logo prominent in most the promotion but in recent days a white version in a Ten style blue circle has begun appearing as the DOG in promos, but not on the endboard.

I would imagine that at least the news theme -- a version of Cool Hand Luke, used by Nine since the 1980s -- will have to change.

What would be a similar realignment in the UK?

I appreciate we don't have 'affiliates' like in other countries, but would this be like pre-merger Channel 3 independent regional companies suddenly aligning themselves to Channel 4 or Channel 5 for news broadcasts and some prime time programmes?

Best hypothetical example would be ITV taking over STV and then STV being able to go elsewhere and broadcast as part of Channel 5 for example.

The best real example closer to home though is TV3 losing it's programming agreement with ITV (to UTV Ireland) and then having to source content from other broadcasters.

At midnight AEST, the Southern Cross Ten stations became Southern Cross Nine (its on air identity being simply Nine). During the ad-break of the Ten programme 'The Project', the feed switched to 40 minutes of Nine promos and then the first programme from Nine began at 12.40 with no fanfare.

These examples were recorded in the Mackay region of QLD - I expect the same happened in all markets due to limited variation in programming.

The first local WIN News summary aired since the Ten affiliation had "Tar Sequence" on intro, but with Ten-like lower thirds:

Anyway, will we hear Ten Eyewitness News theme on the main WIN News bulletin? Almost 2 and a half hours away for Eastern states (or 2 hours away for Tasmania).

Here is the evening WIN News for the Sunshine Coast. I'm very surprised that they kept Cool Hand Luke; the theme can now be heard on two competing channels!
