Atlantis is back with another series, starting slightly later in the year presumably due to the scheduling of Doctor Who. Looks like as with the first series it's been given 13 episodes.
Does seem to have been sacrificed for Doctor Who - can't see it doing brilliantly in such a late slot and it'll struggle even more once it hasn't got Strictly to prop it up.

To be fair the first episode of series 1 premièred at 8:25pm on a Saturday according to the BBC website. It'll be interesting to see how the time slot does once Strictly has finished, though hopefully by then the programme will have a relatively strong audience.
Having watched last night's episode it appears they're making this series slightly darker than the previous one. Therefore I think the time slot is probably right, as I'm not sure it would really suit a much earlier slot.
Looks like when series 2 resumes in the spring it'll be the last as it's been reported over the weekend that the BBC won't be comissioning a third series. Whilst the BBC don't appear to have directly commented since it was reported on DS it appears to be confirmed via twitter...
Very sad. BBC have pulled Atlantis.Huge amounts of fun working with an amazing crew and cast. Thanks to all the very loyal fans!
No surprise really - it's never really taken off and when the BBC can get better ratings from Pointless Celebrities, a lottery quiz or by shifting Casualty earlier and airing a Mrs Brown repeat it's a bit of a no brainer.
Thought I'd dig this thread up as series 2 finally resumes this weekend. Will be interesting to see how the remainder of the series rates as it starts only 15 minutes before Britain's Got Talent. Also I couldn't help noticing a remarkably similar sounding series has recently begun called 'Olympus' (see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3681794/ ), which has been acquired by Spike for airing in the UK.
Pretty much being burned off then. Atlantis was doomed really the minute they opted to put Doctor Who in the autumn, though to be fair had the first series been any good it probably wouldn't have been treated so poorly.
I'm guessing the second half of the latest series of Doctor Who is probably not going to air until this autumn now.
What are you talking about? Second half? We're not in the middle of the season! Series 8 has finished (did you not notice that they aired 12 episodes, and the first one was double length?) and series 9 will air, in it's entirety, in the Autumn.

To be fair at least the BBC aren't doing what they did with the final series of Waterloo Road, in premièring it on BBC Three instead and showing it post 10:45pm midweek on BBC One. Also they have been running trailers for it weekly, so appear to have been making some effort to attract an audience, though according to Media Guardian it only got 2.6 million viewers (12.4%) last weekend (compared to BGT's 10 million).
I finally managed to catch up on the past two weeks episodes. I think plot wise some elements are slightly confusing if you haven't seen series 1, however personally I think the series is somewhat underrated. It'll be interesting to see how much further it's ratings were affected by the football overrunning.
(Also going completely off-topic Jack Donnelly who plays Jason is taking part in an improvised comedy show tonight, which is being stream live on youtube https://youtu.be/WthZvBUPC1s.)
^Waterloo Road's BBC One repeat was actually the same night as the original showing (which was Monday, so not midweek), though you're right about the timeslot.
It did seem an odd way to treat a show that had run for so long, even if it was a couple of years after most of it's viewers had axed it themselves. I'm sure a decent enough slot could have been found for it on BBC1, but it's probably all part of the running down of BBC3 too.
