Another possibility would be (albeit unlikely):

1700 Five Life - yesterday's Neighbours (Catch Up)
1730 Five - Neighbours (First Look)
1800 Five - Home and Away
1830 Five Life - tomorrow's Home and Away (First Look)

I think that's quite likely actually - though the question is what Five Life do between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.

As we've said, it would be strange for them to air Neighbours on one when Home and Away is on the other, but as I also said, it's likely that if someone is following one show on a first look basis, they'd be following the other too - so they wouldn't be stealing viewers from Home and Away with a first look Neighbours at 6pm (or a catch-up Home and Away at 5.30pm).

I suppose they could be clever and do:

1730 Classic Home and Away
1800 Classic Neighbours

No too fussed about Home & Away but classic Neighbours would be great! Doubt it will happen though. One thing will be rights and another thing Five to me wouldn't do that.

However I can see the logic in trying to take action now to try to minimise the impact of the loss of Neighbours. If Doctors is nicely settled into the 1.40pm slot by April (or whenever Neighbours goes) the impact of Neighbours' loss on the afternoon schedule will be much reduced. Don't be surprised if the afternoon episode goes completely before the BBC loses Neighbours...

By the way, you're probably all aware of this, but it seems The Weakest Link is now the most likely option to replace the evening episode. The question is whether to change the format of TWL or bring forward the end of CBBC to 5.15pm. So don't bet on River City getting the 5.30pm network slot!!

I have heard that everything on BBC1 between 3.30pm and 6pm is to move to BBC2, and everything on BBC2 at the same time is to move across to BBC1, not just The Weakest Link. They may give the 5.30pm-6pm slot to BBC Switch.

Me too. Gives the BBC chance to play around the schedule and I wouldn't be suprised if the BBC had the chance to move around the evening showing of Neighbours they would. As far as I'm concerned River City is a metter for BBC1 Scotland although they could experiment showing it at 5.30pm in England, Wales and Northern Ireland but still keep the evening slot for Scotland as a new soap for English, Welsh and Northern Irish viewers. Switching CBBC over to BBC2, I can see the logic in that but moving BBC2 schedules to BBC1 minus the Weakest Link is a bad idea in my opinion! However if BBC Switch say started at 4pm and ran until 5.15pm then the Weakest Link I would approve of that. Shame if Blue Peter would move to BBC2 because I've always seen it as the most important show in the CBBC schedule.

Yes. Five only have the rights to Home and Away from 2000 episodes which is why they started at that point in their repeat run. I assume the same will apply for Neighbours - they will only have the rights to episodes from when they take over screening it.

Just to reply to two posts back...

It's been confirmed CBBC won't be moving to 2 although there is speculation it will finish earlier, possibly at 1715 to accomodate The Weakest Link.

And there is absolutely zero possibility of BBC Switch on 1. I can't even begin to think how that rumour started. It's a complete non-starter.
