Remember that failed soap that BBC-1 ran when Neighbours started?
Wasn't it called "Breakers"?

Don't think that was Breakers. That ran in the late 90s didn't it?

Yep, breakers was on BBC Choice. IIRC it was on at 5 just before Neighbours

DigiGuide shows it normal time w/c 26/11 but moved to 14:10 from 3/12.

It's a conspiracy. They're building a drill in Television Centre and it's going to turn into a robot and take over the world.

But seriously,I don't think they're planning anything.

By the way, you're probably all aware of this, but it seems The Weakest Link is now the most likely option to replace the evening episode.

I'm going back 20-odd years, but does anyone remember Masterteam with Angela Rippon in the 5.35 slot before the days of Neighbours? It was a good old fashioned straightforward quiz show without any gimmicks or frills and worked really well in that slot. I'd love to see something like that make a return.

It wouldn't surprise me if Ready Steady Cook gets the 5.35 slot... considering its recent makeover over the last few months. Obviously a shortened version.

Also Charles in Charge, continuous repeats of The Good Life, Get Fit (or something like that to help people diet) as well as special weeks such as Hospital Watch, Railway Watch etc......

The Neighbours repeat was at 10.02/10.03 (just after the news headlines) from October 1986 to September 1987. It moved to the 9.02/9.03 slot from September 1987 to December 1987, and then took up its 5.35 slot where it has remained.

The Sept-Dec 1987 episodes were heavily edited (recap sequences were cut out and all-in-all about 5-6 minutes of each show was cut). The earlier episodes were also cut a little for timing reasons, but since the show moved to 5.35 the only edits were for censorship reasons. in fact, for a while in the late 80s and early 90s the BBC episodes were actually longer than than the Aussie episodes, as the BBC inserted additional recap scenes at the beginning!

IIRC, some scenes that the BBC deemed not entirely suitable for early afternoon and/or immediately after Children's BBC.
