As Mr Harvey and everyone else has said....NO
Its already happened, and didn't work. In the early '80s the then producer from The Archers was poached by ATV/Central to make a last ditch effort to save Crossraads. The actor at that at the timewho played Nigel Pargitter was also shifted to Crossroads, which changed its name to ... well I forget. It did asssume some rural and villagey theme and dropped the opening credits that showed a class 33 running under Aston viaduct.
Although the BBC were far to less than generous to let the role move as well, the guy was reamed as some other Rupert. Crossroads as we know bombed, and Nigel ended up having to marry Lizzie rather that Shula.
What ever happened to Corin,, he'd have known the answer to all of this?
