What did everybody think of yeterdays first edition?

I loved it. It's the best reality TV programme around at the moment. I think Alan Sugar is an absolute legend, I liked his no nonsense attitude. I also loved Paul (the one who sold the most flowers for the boys team), he's confidnet and very cocky but at the same time likeable. I didn't watch the US version so I can't compare it but yesterdays progaramme was excellent. It's a shame that Adnike was fired, as I thought Miranda hindered the girls by selling the flowers at an extremely low price, hence the girls lost money. I felt Adenike was used as a scapegoat cos she seemed to be 'the quiet one', even though it was mainly Miranda's fault that the girls lost, even Alan admitted that Miranda had managed to talk her way out of getting fired where as Adenike just sat there and couldn't stick up for herself.

Anyway like I said, it was a very good show and I'm definately gonna watch it next week.

I saw it as well and though it was Brilliant Exclamation
Alan Sugars comes across as a bit of a *merchant banker* at times, but hey thats the nature of the show.
It was a brilliant peice of "reality programming" for the first time in ages I was shouting at the box. The womens team came across as somewhat disjointed and in all fairness deserved to fail. The guys however were very funny. The team leader had me in creases over his nationality(S).
An excellent programme, whitty, funny and somewhat midly dangerous. well done BBC two.

I thought it was excellent. I watched the American version and was hooked - and I wasn't sure whether the BBC version would be as good, but thankfully they stuck fairly rigidly to the same format and I thought they did it very well. And if you had seen the American version, you would, like me, have thought that Alan Sugar came across as extremely likeable compared to Donald Trump!! It was brilliant TV and I'll definitely be watching next week.

Was it me or during the end credits there was no mention to the American production company that made the show for NBC - and hold the format rights?

Wow, you must have very sharp eyes, I don't take notice of the credits at the end of progarammes.

One thing I fined strange is how previews state that Alan Sugar uses Donald Trumps catchphrase of "Your fired!".

Wouldn't surprise me in this crazy compensation culture world that anyone who now finds them getting sacked can get their ex-employer sued for unauthorised use of Donald Trumps catchphrase!

There is an episode coming up where (apparently) the contestants (is contestants the right term, as this isn't really a game show in the traditional sense?) have to become shopping tv presenters for the day at one of the shopping channels.

Can't wait, I'm looking forward to that.

Yes I noticed that. Also I didn't notice a credit for Englishman Mark Burnett who created The Apprentice and produces it in the States. The copyright at the end was for the British production company not JMBP, Inc. which is Mark Burnett's holding company which owns the show.

This happened originally on Season 2 of The Apprentice USA when the contestants had to sell a product live on QVC (USA).

Well, I'm in agreement with Charlie Brooker's comments about the contestants in his 'Screen Burn' column in last Saturday's Guardian.....

'14 odious, over confident wannabee entrepreneurs, every single one of whom you will learn to hate twice as much as Hitler'

and:

'"I don't like liars, I don't like cheats, I don't like ****, I don't like schmoozers, I don't like arse-lickers," he [Alan Sugar] announces, unwittingly dismissing every single one of them in the process'

not to mention:

'We watch them bicker, argue, scheme, moan, boast, brag, grandstand, plot and spout marketing bollocks until you want to squat on their chests and punch their jaws through the floor. By the end of the show, you'll want Alan to fire the lot of them. Preferably into the ocean.'
