Right, well, if you care to remember, it was I who installed the poll feature. And the reason for this was to get more-or-less instant feedback to a question.
I have seen some pointless posts recently, such as polls which ask more than one question, when clearly only one answer is available.
Also polls are good for getting opinions on something.
Don't use polls just for the sake of it though, yes polls can give you a graphical representation of the amount of people who think a certain thing, but standard posts can give much more information, for example, a reason.
e.g.
Poll -
'Should polls be removed' - two answers, yes or no.
If it is a post, with the same topic, someone could say 'yes, because.....'
That was what I thought the polls would be used for when I installed the feature - so people could get a yes/no style feedback, however still use the reply feature so users can elaborate.
Pointless polls are as bad as pointless posts, they use up bandwidth and waste peoples time reading them.
Just my opinion.
