Although on the other hand ditching the some of the old features helps keep the show fresh I suppose. With Undercover it got to the stage where Ant and Dec were recognised too soon I reckon.
Were Ant and Dec trying to beat the record for most Z-list celebs in the one show tonight then?
Looks like it! Although I do feel sorry for Paul and Debbie considering they are veterans of Saturday night TV themselves. Paul Daniels doesn't do this sort of thing...lets be honest.

He looked less than impressed, but I guess some people just won't say no to some £££. I reckon Ant wanted to ditch Debbie from his team, but couldn't as Paul would probably kick up a fuss and he needed to keep the sexes a bit more even on the team.
Anyone remember that Louis Theroux Meets show with the Daniels?
I enjoyed last nights show - its good that they have some fresh ideas and have got rid of some of the older formats. It was also good to see Kym Ryder as one of the celebs taking part
Its only on for 6 weeks though - I guess Ant and Dec will be busy with BGT so couldnt make a longer series.
I was looking forward to the show but to be honest I don't think it was as good as the last series - the celebrity challenge (ahem celebrity? Chico, Sonia, Melinda Messenger!) was dull to be honest.
Even the 'Beat the Ads' dancing gnomes (Andy Scott Lee I ask you!) just lacked any real fun or imagination.
I dunno the last series kept me hooked throughout - last night I was happy pottering about doing other things - it just didnt grab me.

They're not fresh ideas though - they're the same old ideas tweaked slightly and dressed up as something new.
Yeah but at leasts they are trying to make it a bit different. The show is a huge hit anyway and I could argue its the main show of the Saturday night schedule at the moment, so why mess with a good format too much?
Its also one of the few traditional Saturday night entertainment type shows left from LWT (or ITV Productions as it now is)

Apparently Stars in their Eyes is just "taking a break" which surprised me as I thought it was axed for good. Perhaps they're just waiting for the right host for it.
Back to last night and its fair enough that most people in their 20s/30s remember or have heard of the likes of Sonia and Paul and Debbie but I think the average teen audience wouldn't have a clue who they were.
I don't know what the future is for Saturday Night Takeaway - Ant and Dec still enjoy doing it but apparently find it hard work and exhausting just running down the stairs now they're in their 30s! (Or just unfit..? Perhaps?). http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/a89497/takeaway-leaves-ant-dec-exhausted.html Still, thats not to say there's probably too much physical stuff crammed into the show.
I'm happy they have dropped the ITV canteen part from the opening of the show (pre titles) as that always seemed like forever. It did feel like they were trying to cram a bit too much in last night. Maybe just ease off the pace just a fraction would be a good thing?! Beat the boys (Extreme) is back next week so perhaps it wont be such a phsically demanding show for them. It's still a good show to watch and probably the only reminder these days from the good old days of Saturday night TV before all these trashy cheesy no imagination phone line rigging money spinners came along.
