Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway - Thread

Ant and Dec interviewed fake guest? (September 2007)

The guest announcer bit was clearly taped when introducing the "grab the ads" bit at the start of the show, when they cut to Simon Pegg to do the "oink oink" bit, the tape stalled halfway through, causing Ant to look perplexed in an "oh bugger, here comes another scandal" type way.

The rest was live, apart from the obvious pre-records like canteen and beat the boys race etc!

Oh for goodness sake....

Yes, Beat the boys wasn't live. Thank Goodness for that. You'd never think it with all that sunlight though... Rolling Eyes

Thank fook it's back - Saturday night TV has been dire for months.

It's strange that they use the old logo on the breaks, instead of the new one on the titles. Again, another example of the lack of ITV continuity...

I've never understood why they use two completely different logos. The titles logo is used on the walls and the screen too.

Was Simon's bits live or recorded?

*IF* the show was live, would there be any need for it to actually be live...?

Even with Jiggy Bank, it wasn't as if they used their Sky Digital stream to downlink to Portugal...

Think again, none of the show needs to be live, so why would it be live?

The clock in the canteen, after the titles when Simon was announcing who was on the show, was about 5min slow, so i assume it was on some sort of delay.

I really enjoyed this on Saturday, and wasn't really expecting to because it normally feels too repetitive, etc. I thought the games they had on were good, and there was a lot packed into the show too! I really enjoyed Ant vs Dec when they were ice skating and fell over- that was really funny! Plus Beat the Boys was great with the new obstacles on the course, overall a good show!

I wonder how much of the programme, if any, was actually "live"? Confused:

Oh, only all of it. Except pre titles natrually Smile

Really? I find that very hard to believe, if you watch carefully you'll see some big clues!

I went to see it last series, and it was most definitely live.

At least the Ant vs Dec skate-off was live. My office overlooks the courtyard they did it in - and I could see them.

If you watched closely, it was cleverly done. It wasn't downlinking the ITV show on Sky, as when we saw the woman, we also saw Ant and Dec on the screen talking to her (if it was Sky feed we would have seen her), so there was a "clean feed" being sent back to Portugal of the studio.

So... it could have still been recorded, and got away with. Afterall, recording and faking competitions seems to be the in-thing these days!

Oh yes that's so clever. Wouldn't it look just a little stupid to have a picture of her on the screen on which Ant & Dec were meant to be speaking to her? All she'd see is what we were seeing - herself - and be wondering what the hell was going on. Doesn't take a genius does it, but around here maybe it does.

Everything bar pre titles was live. And as for the questions about why it isn't recorded (there's apparently no need?), why NOT?! Ant & Dec love live TV, the team on Takeaway do and it livens up TV on a Saturday night. If it's all so pointless they might as well just have the news completely with reports - to hell with a studio and presenter, we don't NEED them eh? I'd hate to think what the state of TV would be like if some people here were put in charge - Paxman on ITV Primetime! Shocked
