People criticise ITV all the time, but you'd never get anything this entertaining on BBC1.

Well you used to it was called Noel's House Party. Wink

They're very good at what they do and ITV do seem to 'get' light entertainment and the common touch far more than BBC1 do at the moment. That is an amazing thing to say especially when you consider that during the 70's and 80's the BBC's light entertainment roster had ITV extremely envious.

I have to say sometimes I do feel the BBC still have the light entertainment very, very good with Strictly Come Dancing - for whatever reason I find it more family friendly than what ITV offer and the production values are excellent, especially against last week's directioally aimless X Factor.

Obviously not what the majority like as I don't even see an SCD thread on this forum for instance, but that doesn't mean it's not sometimes better Wink

Strictly skews older in terms of viewers that's why they don't really have many forums, the web is primarily used by a younger audience. The young tend to do multiple voting more which is why The X Factor has so many more text and phone votes compared to SCD.

I have to say, I haven't been a big fan of this series, but tonight was some of the most entertaining television in a long time. You know how big Ant and Dec are when they can get the Beeb's biggest stars on an ITV Saturday night show. Just great.

I have to agree with that point. This has to be one of the worst series of Takeaway I remember. They still need Little Ant and Dec and more undercovers. The 'items' on this series were a bit pants but I agree that tonight's finale was great.

I couldnt believe that they had Jonathon Ross and Ricky Gervais on and Simon Cowell. What a panel of judges! It was so obvious that it was going to goto a draw mind! It does every series!

You would if the Beeb poached them.

Well, they did do a primetime show on Saturday Night for BBC1 called Friends Like These which Ian Wright later went onto present.

I disagree Beat the Boys was a good addition to the series. Undercover got a bit samey and they would probably get recognised now

The Jiggy Bank wasn't anything special, but that's the good thing with a show like this, if you don't like it, it'll be over with in a few minutes and on to something else, I know Noel's House Party had a few dodgy features over the years but obviously there was no internet then so every episode wasn't over analysed like now

Little Ant & Dec need to have a bigger role next series, Little Dec looked even more bored than he usually does!

Hmm I've always loved this show but this series seemed to lack something....and I'm not sure what!

It was more or less the same items every week instead of one week being 'Whats Next', on week being Undercover...It just used to be a little less predictable.

And I wish they wouldn't sit the person they're going to pull out of the audience in the same bloody chair every week!

Actually, there was a winner during the first time the segment was used.

The BBC would love to get their hands on them again, and no doubt put in an offer when their previous ITV contract was coming up for renewal - but I can understand why they stayed at ITV, and most likely will do so for years to come. They obviously love doing what they're doing, ITV treat them well and they love the shows they present. With the BBC, they'd be going over not knowing what was in store for them.

Just look at Graham Norton - it's hardly been the most successful of moves.

I have to agree. I think Undercover needed a rest, but should be brought back next year and this time used on members of the public, like it was originally. Ant Vs. Dec should be laid to rest, and 'What Happens Next' should be brought back. I just loved the spontaneity of it. Beat The Boys was the worst segment, and that should never return. Too similar to Ant Vs. Dec, and even more predictable because it was the same thing every week.

I just don't like some of their newer ideas. It's not as good as it was - but I did enjoy it tonight.

The only time anybody should switch channels is if they can take their format/producer/writer with them. Morecambe & Wise went to ITV but their excellent writer Eddie Braben was still under contract to the BBC. Bruce Forsyth went to ITV in the 70's but The Generation Game stayed with the BBC.

Ant and Dec would be mad to switch because they wouldn't be able to take I'm A Celebrity with them.

My point exactly. Ant and Dec are god, but without the recognisable formats like I'm A Celebrity, they wouldn't be as successful.
