It was great seeing a Thames ident tonight. I always liked Take Your Pick, one of my fave ITV quiz shows. Great to see Patsy go through to the semi finals.

I didn't see that bit, which Thames ident was used?

Which I think ran in the 70s and 80s on Thames.

Yep, it was played in just after an ad break, and before the Take Your Pick titles came on. It got a bit of a cheer as well if I remember rightly - good to hear it's not just us that care.

If we are being geeky here, the ident shown above was never actually used whilst Take Your Pick was on the air. Originally aired in 1955 to 1968 and then recommissioned in 1992, the ident appropriate would have been the final Thames ident as a broadcaster but obviously the one that sticks in our minds is the skyline one.

Plus, frontcaps were completely ditched in the late 80s, so if they were being totally accurate, they'd have not used one at all.

As we saw last week though, with a 70s Yorkshire ident at the beginning of the Central titles to The Price Is Right from the 80s, accuracy isn't their priority. I think they're more interested in a bit of nostalgia... which if it involves some classic idents isn't a bad thing in my book.

When did Central make the Price is Right? I watch the show on Challenge! and the end-cap always says "A Yorkshire TV Production for ITV" with some other company co-producing it.

I did notice a mistake though the other day as they put a Granada Yorkshire endcap on with the words, A Granada Yorkshire distribution for Flextech. Or is that what it is know as now? Will watch later to see!

'The Sun' is reporting 'Bullseye' will be making a comeback in the new year. Jim Bowen however will not return as host...and apparently he is pretty p*ssed off at not even being asked. Peter Kay is tipped for the job.

I'd take it all with a pinch of salt though.

AIUI Jim Bowen was never pleased how it got axed, as he wasn't directly told about it, he heard off one of the crew on Bullseye, but it's a shame he hasn't been asked again, it would have been well good. But saying that I'm glad Peter Kay is the next choice, if anyone has seen Live At the Bolton Albert Halls would prove he would be more than capable for the job and would suit it and bring humour to it aswell.

Well, I read another article this weekend in The People, also tipping Peter Kay, but with Jim Bowen saying he doesn't want to host it and Bullseye shouldn't come back because it's basically crap and people are only looking at it with nostalgia induced rose-tinted spectacles!

I always thought Jim Bowen hated Bullseye. I can't imagine he's bothered whether he was asked or not. Confused
