Some good regional logos on It'll be Alright On the night now.

Now that's the way to do it, proper regionality and for those with a keen eye will have noticed that all the logos were appropriate to the period of the report shown. Also at the top of the show, Denis's wording of "50 years of Independant Televsion" was a welcome adjustment to the accuracy of this season. Well done Denis and the team!

For same strange reason teh STV logo is the pressant oen while every other one including Grampian Tv as old version

Have you read what you've quoted?

I doubt it. This is the same person who posted a totally incomprehensible thread the other day (the mods have since deleted it), and as most of his posts are along those lines anyway.

I enjoyed this last night. I think ITV should consider bringing back some of these gameshows on a permanent basis in a Saturday night slot or maybe 7pm Friday's.

Well, we know the 7pm slot will never happen, but they are quite suitable for early Saturday evening before the big primetime programmes like The X Factor and Saturday Night Takeaway.

Agreed. But I would rather they dropped the Friday and Sunday episodes of Emmerdale and showed quiz shows instead. I miss the quiz shows on a Friday night.

I'd rather see another marathon then any of the shows turned into full series. A&D have said though if they really enjoy doing one particular show they'd consider turning it into a series. I think the problem though would be the novelty would soon wear off. i really enjoyed 'The Price is Right' as a one off last night, but i don't think a full series would work - even with Ant & Dec. That's the beauty of the 'marathon' though..an array of short but sweet revivals one after the other, each leaving you wanting more. I don't know about anyone else but I'd much rather have that then the revival of just one show that soon outstays it's welcome. I think another 'marathon is more likely.

If one show does get a full series though..i'd bet my life on Bullseye!

I don't think anyone else had any ideas what they were either...! Wink
Bringing back Dusty Bin wouldn't be a problem, but bringing back Ted Rogers would be - he's been dead for a few years now.

I must admit I give ITV top marks for the Gameshow Marathon idea. I am hoping the programme is not only is a celebration of gameshows on ITV but also a chance to gauge the viewers reaction and seeing if its worth bringing back shows such as The Price Is Right! The rights seem to belong to Talkback Thames now, is this correct?

Take Your Pick or The Golden Shot would look out of place now but the return of Bullseye, Play Your Cards Right, Family Fortunes and The Price Is Right would bring back viewers like myself.

Great to see so many ITV greats on the show too such as Bob Holiness and Wincey Willis.

Totally agree with you on this, and a comedy at 8.30pm on Friday wouldn't go a miss either, why they are showing even more Corrie is beyond me!

The worldwide rights to the Price Is Right format belong to Freemantle Media, who own Talkback Thames in the UK - that's why it's a co-production with Granada, who own the "Marathon" idea.

The history of the rights goes much further back and make interesting reading in that The Price Is Right was another invention by the Mark Goodman Productions unit in the US in the 70's; the gods of gameshow who also brought us Family Fortunes and Play Your Cards Right. This unit was taken over in the mid 90's by a large US outfit who themselves were taken over by Pearson TV, who susbsequently sold out to RTL AKA FremantleMedia.

In addition to the above, some further interesting reading on wikipedia regarding Bullseye and its one-off production reveals this statement ...

Quote:
In 2005 it was announced that programme creator Andrew Wood had signed a contract with Granada Media for Granada to produce a 1 hour long celebrity special ‘Bullseye’ show to be hosted by Ant and Dec.

Andrew Wood has signed an exclusive Option Agreement with Granada Media. This exclusive Option is for 6 months at the end of which Granada Media can extend the Option period for a further 6 months.

During this Option Agreement period Granada will decide whether or not to produce a brand new series of Bullseye.
