If it does come back, I'd expect it to be shown at 6pm on a Saturday, just after YBF!. Remember any proper remakes will be a lot different to the Gameshow Marathon format, in that they won't be huge studio jobs with hundreds of people in the audience screaming all the time!

I guess the new Family Fortunes will be based at the South Bank, since the original set is now a uni.

Strange they used mid-90's Family Fortunes titles/logo, a 2001-2003 set and a 1983 Central ident. A bit of a mix there I reckon.

And I'm wondering where the hell did the music come from? It doesn't match the arragement heard on any of the episodes I've seen (indeed, the music used on the Monkhouse/Bygraves eps is very different to that on the Les Dennis/Any Collins incarnation).

It's sounding like the familiar tune of 'running out of money'. i.e. couldn't afford rights to the 'original'. That along with other cutbacks towards the end of the series in order to meet some kind of budget to me have spoilt the production value of the series.

To me it went downhill completely as a series after Play Your Cards Right. It 'looks' like they ran out of money... or weren't willing to put anymore in when it was apparant that it had succeeded in its targets so early on.

The very first Les Dennis Family Fortunes series, where they had the colour screen.

It's a piece of Saturday Night LE..... not a factual historic documentary

I noticed the Central ident seemed a bit incorrect. Does ITV recreate all of the idents and titles?

The ident look like it had been cutout. The Central moon had a black square around it, whereas i never noticed that in the original.

It wasn't though. That particular music was in use until 1992, and sounded nothing like the one used last night. Those titles are on TV Whirl (indeed, I captured them myself).

Hmm, I'll have to rewatch it again then. The twiddly bits have definitely been used before though.
