Although I reckon there's little to take the mick out of The Krypton Factor - that was a class show in its own right and ought to respected, not ridiculed by Ant and Dec.

They don't take the mick out of many of them though.

Yes, there's a certain amount of fondness and respect for the shows themeselves here with Ant and Dec taking the piss out of the contestants mainly.

Bullseye was terrible to watch last night though - they really had to stretch to fit the extra fifteen minutes the show gives them.

The Price is Right and The Golden Shot have been the best ones, I think.

Agreed, but Bullseye appears to be the only one that i could see working in a modern ITV schedule, given a few changes of course. The others are a bit old hat i think.

May I ask, I didn't see last week's show so why did Jim Bowen appear in the trailers?

I've seen it all now... here's a 16x9/4x3 comparison of the afore mentioned frontcap...

Mmm, a treat for all shapes & sizes. Can I make a presumption that Thames are looking after this department of the programme? Laughing

What exactly is meant to be preserved for history here then???, the shape of the globe or the shape of the letters? Answers on a forum near you...

I just have to bring this up again - because it's really, really, really weird.

Why do this? What possible way is there to bugger it up like that? It's not like the *whole* thing is squashed or stretched. I really don't understand what they thought they were trying to do.

It's *such* a shame, as having the frontcap there was a lovely idea. The worst thing is, with the black background, it's *such* an easy graphic to widescreen-ize...

As for the show itself... I enjoyed it a lot, but there were flaws. You could easily iron them out and do a new series, I think. A lot of it is that the show doesn't suit such a glitzy studio and set, and such a large audience. Scale it back slightly (which has the added advantage of being cheaper), bring it back a bit more to the usual format (which I think would happen anyway - a lot of the changes were done purely so it would fit into the Gameshow Marathon format) and you might have something.

I think Sale of the Century,Take Your Pick,Supermarket Sweep,Fun House,Mad For It and Pump it Up would work now.

And don't forget Finders Keepers! There's a rumour floating about that it could be coming back...

Personally I thought that Bullseye this week was terrible. Having professional darts players on seemed to be a mistake. Why could they not have had "friends" on with the celebs, as they did on Play Your Cards Right? The pro darts players getting bullseyes one after the other sort of made a bit of a mockery out of the whole format for me.

The Price is Right and Sale of the Century have been the best so far, I think. Looking forward to Family Fortunes next week though. Oh and I agree that a remake of 321 would be great - always loved those impossibly obscure clues! Wink

The professional darts players didn't really bother me to be honest - they were clearly there to ensure there were some decent prizes in the prize pool and were fairly evenly balanced.

No, the problem with Bullseye at the weekend (along with many of the other shows on offer) has been the rather plodding pacing - they are trying to fit shows mostly designed for 30 minutes into 45 minutes of airtime - 55 minutes in the case of Bullseye (the show was extended to 70 minutes, for some reason). Playing out all the categories on the category board is a logical enough progression, but that doesn't mean it's going to be interesting to watch. And I was mildly annoyed at them not playing the proper music during Pounds for Points. And whilst I appreciate deliberately playing up to audience nostalgia, they really didn't give away a speedboat every week.

I'm glad that there's a good chance Bullseye might be coming back full time. I'm less glad that they don't seem to want Bowen to host it. This is absolute madness - the show and him have a completely symbiotic relationship and despite his age he still seems perfectly capable. He's got a good ten years on Brucie, in fact.
