Anyone see this programme on BBC Three tonight? I was randomly channel surfing and came across a couple of talking heads talking about idents - how they're more expensive than the programmes etc. and included Simon Grant who's a particular fan of C4's "interstitials".

That was at number 86. Fast forward a bit and they "take a break" from the rundown by showing:

...for just under a minute! Part original anno into the news, mostly Richard Bacon talking about how time flies.

Then a piece about what time the news is on (talking heads talking about the fact it doesn't matter), lots of short bursts of BBC/ITV titles, a look at sitting/standing/walking/turning and some stuff about news correspondents.

All done in a very BBC Three way Wink but they're must be some anoraks to end with these credits and tone!

There was a topic on this before, ISTR...?

The BBC2 clock is most probs lifted from one of the flash file recreations to be found online, rather than the real thing. There was also a Teledu Cymru logo nearer the beginning which was in colour rather than B&W.

And yup, them credits were a stroke of genius.

Yes, if it was real it wouldn't have been on screen for so long, or so clear or in widescreen!

Not sure on that - the clock shows 11.25 so could have been a close down.

The widescreen could easily have been done by putting a 4:3 example (with the edges slightly cropped to remove where it fades away) on top of the same footage stretched to 16:9.

Was that clock ever implemented digitally?

If so - how did the hands move. The analogue clocks had hand bounce - which the early digital versions didn't have. (Though the final BBC in-house designed digital clock generator could simulate this.)

Think AM Smile It often appeared after (and before) the morning showing of Play School, to take us back into TC-F.
