Get used to it - BBC One will be the same a year or so from now...
Oh no they won't - BBC1 and 2 will still have live announcers for the forseeable future, there are no and never have been any plans to get rid of them.

Although of course for some of us there was/is much debate about what phrases like "forseeable future" actually mean. I haven't met many announcers who think that live announcing will last forever on any channel, so it then becomes a question of whether you think it will be five years, twenty years, fifty years etc (if indeed television itself still exists then..!).
No real advantage of E4 having live continuity - the schedule wouldn't be interupted for a major event - I imagine you might just get a caption saying to tune into C4.
The only time live continuity would be preferred is during Big Brother Live to fill in the sound gaps.
When the E4 schedule changes at the last minute, what do they do? Do they have a stockpile of records for every eventuality, do they collar the C4 anno and get them to handle it, do they have a duty anno in case of change, or what?
(Thinking of the Do It With Dougie late repeat canned for 'legal reasons' and the Big Bro Live interruption caused by the bomb scare.)
And what's the standby for E4/C4 shows that are pulled at the last minute? I'm assuming Friends is involved but E4 also used Dawson's and YFOM for the BB evacuation... BBC, I assume, is N24, then Ceefax...
How come there's only 1 announcer on ITV2 and 3 on E4 ?? anyone know? the E4 ones sound live....
ITV2 have 2. There are 2 Guys, one on more often, but there are 2. As for E4, You can tell that from 4pm its live as today the guy was quite chatty. "Hello, its just gone 4 and your with e4. etc etc" the things he said, made it obvious it was live and his first one of the day. You can tell when ITV2 is live as it, "Its (reads the exact time - eg 4 minutes past 3) and your at home with ITV2".

All they really need is a "This is E4" announcement, or more precisely, "This is E4, now in a change to the schedule, it's Friends".
