To all those of you who are criticising...

If you're so bloody good, why aren't you doing the job?

Because if I did, you would be one of my colleagues.

Ah, but nobody specified which region or Nation you'd be working in...

Exactly, and if you were in London, you wouldn't even be working for the same company as marksi...

Just because I may not be able to do it does not mean I cannot pass my personal judgement on those that do surely? I can't act but I'd like to think I could tell the difference between a really bad actor and a good one.

This is true; similarly, surely not all TV critics are ace directors or scriptwriters, and not all food critics are expert chefs. In this instance, someone may be critical of a continuity announcer, but they are qualified to make that criticism without actually needing to be a world-class announcer themselves.

In any case, I don't think Dean sounds smug at all; none of the announcers on BBC ONE sound smug to me.

Does your unprofessional opinion (which you're entitled to hold) make it ok to write public, personal insults towards an individual?

Would you like to see someone post on an internet forum that you are "dreadful" at your job?

Because the BBC go round with their heads up their bums and would't give me the job because they don't realise talent when they hear it! Razz

When I applied for a CA job a few years back I even had to make the journey to the BBC to deliver another tape because they "lost" the original one I sent! I mean, OK, it was only a short journey as I live in Acton, but still!

But some of them are, that's the thing. Wink
