Thankfully ITV have changed their stance on the use of animated endcaps over the last few years after preventing their use.
I would be interested to know of any occasions that ITV companies have used their animated ident at the end of programmes instead of the traditional still endcap.
The examples that I am aware of mainly date from around 1988-1989, prior to the launch of the first ITV Generic look, which included a standardised style of production slide. I guess that with the dropping of pre-programme idents the year earlier, companies were anxious to still be noticed on the network.
I am aware of the following being used on the network, and would welcome further examples,
Central - The first to launch an animated endcap in 1988. This was the first time that the Central "cake" had been seen throughout ITV.
Anglia - Started using short after Central did. The Flag/Standard animated on screen, but used a short version of the (then new) music, which I have never seen on any TV related websites.
Scottish TV - Circa 1989. Featured a "still" of the thistle, but with music and lightflashes passing across the logo.
TVS - I'm sure that on the final episode of the TVS comedy "That's Love", half of the ident was shown (the "flower" revolved into the TVS letters) No special music used, the animation was shown whilst the programmes end credit music was played. I am not sure of this, as when the programme was repeated, a standard TVS "still" was used.
Yorkshire TV - A special animation was used to celebrate 21 years of the franchise during 1989. This was used for a short period before the usual "still" was reintroduced.
The only other example that I can think of is shown on the end of colour editions of "The Avengers", made in the the late 1960's. The ABC letters move position and spell out Associated Bristish Corporation, although I'm not sure if these are edits made for the American market.
Any other occasions would be most welcome!
