Well, Anglia have never had the best-looking news in the country, but the relaunch certainly isn't half as awful as what it's replaced, so that can only be a good thing!

As for London Tonight, that backdrop featuring the London skyline actually pre-dates the programme itself, as it was also used for 'Six O'Clock Live' on LWT pre-1992.

I haven't seen Anglia News yet because... well it's crap. What's the point in updating a crap studio and crap titles with something that is equally as crap?

The important thing (and something Granada the owners of the current franchise have no interest in) is how good is the regional news?
Ignore the set and the studio - do they achieve their aim? Do they serve the community?

Sadly Granada fail, but nothing to do with the studio or the titles.

Let's hope an American firm buy Granada - they will be better at regional news.

Not exactly the same, the pre-1993 studio was about 10 stories higher . You could see more of the neighbouring buildings (including that strange gold ball thing on Sea Containers house), but less of the North Bank.

What was that about the logos disappearing? Are production slides to be dropped? Or are you just thinking of post-merger, if it still happens...

Granada is, supposedly, planning to merge all it's production brands together - it won't say 'An Anglia Television Production' at the end any more, it will be 'A Granada Production' wherever you go. And in any case, not all regional news has production slides - Westcountry hasn't ever since Oct 28th.
That can't be right, not if the merger is next month. I think all Granada and Carlton productions would be more likely to use the merged company's name, than the name Granada.

North East Tonight and Calendar don't use endcaps either.

You're right, there's a screenshot on TV Ark somewhere where the background is the OXO building next doore to The London Studios. Plus from what I have seen of LWT News on the Internet you couldn't see much in the background, but compare it with London Tonight you can see St. Pauls without a problem.
