I have to say...I love the GMG Purple look and have the generic GMG Group background as my wallpaper (replacing the Breakfast one). Very very nice indeed.

I think they have used the TV logos font to do these.

Is it just me, or has graphic design in the TV industry as a whole been pretty bland and simple since about 1996 or 97? I remember captions which had lots of nice fading effects and colour - nowadays we seem to get things which more or less could have been drawn up in about 5 minutes in Powerpoint... Carlton's current idents are about the only recent exception I can think of to the rule.
I know 'clean and simple' is supposed to be the current fad, but come on guys, put some effort in please...
As for the Meridian end caption comparison a few posts ago, I obviously like the old one more than the current Granada generic purple and white shabbyness.
The Meridian logo looks of-centre because when the sun (and moon) ident was first put on an ident there was two colours and the sun part with the red was on the left and the moon part was on the right.

Is it just me or does the Yorkshire TV chevron look a bit misshapen on the purple endcaps? It looks a bit too flat at the top.
There doesn't seem to be a standard shape for the YTV Chevron. it has altered through the years, as shown by this montage I've just put together...

As you can see, everyone is different, compare the 1st one, with number 4 and then number 5!
The giant logo on the front of the YTV studios, is actually the very thin original shape (number 1)

It was also white until very recently when they painted it yellow. Ironic that we now get a white logo on screen!
