Hmm, the BBC Programmes site does say at least a couple of Fawlty Towers episodes have been shown on BBC Two in the last few years (2012/13) if you scroll to the broadcast dates.

For example:

Yeah, it was definitely shown on BBC Two on Sunday evenings around 2013-ish, I remember the difficulty that was had scheduling it with the wildly different durations from episode to episode.

I wonder when they will air the 13th episode. Smile

All evidence points to it being a piece of fan fiction made up by a fantasist back in the 80s, along with a misremembering of what happened with the TX of Basil the Rat being delayed for a half a year due to industrial action. But the rumours persist.

It may also be because of the "introduction" on the Fawlty Towers set that John Cleese (as Basil Fawlty) did that was originally intended to introduce Not The Nine o'Clock News because of the strike that delayed Basil The Rat:

However Not the Nine was pulled and I think the above introduction was tacked onto something else or used elsewhere in another context, which may appear to fuel the rumours of a 13th episode.

Not the nine was pulled because of the 1979 election and thank goodness it did, it was overhauled...

Nice to see that BBC Scotland couldn't be bothered cancelling Landward tonight to show the tribute. 🙄
