there was never any danger of chosing the "wrong" ident - the globe did everything.

> news of bungee jumping accident - use bungee
> riots in brazil - use carnival
> anything involving flames - use one where the flame was evident in the balloon...

shall I continue?

And don't go on about the 91 globe - what if the world blew up? How innappropriate.

Do you know, I think there's a point here. Never mind the idents - if there was only one safe, inoffensive programme on tv all the time then no matter what happened no one would be offended by it. It would save all those difficult editorial decisions. We'll get the publisher's of The People's Friend to come up with some ideas.

Here is a suggested schedule for BBC1:

06:00 - Ceefax AM
07:00 - The British Noughts-and-Crosses Championship
13:00 - Pages from Ceefax
17:00 - More from the British Noughts-and-Crosses Championship
23:55 - Clock, National Anthem
00:00 - Pages from Ceefax
03:00 - Pages from Ceefax - special Level 2 edition!

All "programmes" will be complemented by soothing library music.
I'm sure at least one member of this forum would be happy with this schedule...

Okay, judging by your comments, fair enough. I just thought they would've used something a bit more calmer.

In keeping with current BBC1 policy, all of these programmes would have to be presented by Nick Knowles, with a follow up "Test the Nation" on Saturday evening.

So the current BBC employees don't want the globe back - now there's a surprise!

Fishcakes still taste nice in sandwiches. Perhaps they could create an ident about that..............

That would be appropriate when introducing a programme with fish in it.

Yeah but do you mean the fishcakes which are minced fish and mashed potato in breadcrumbs or the proper ones with a slice of fish between two slices of potato, battered?

The latter. I like quality, not Tesco Value!
