Absolutely gutted to hear this but understand the decision and I'm sorry to hear the forum's been such a chore recently.
Like others have said I joined the site as a teenager, grew up reading it, it helped influence me to start a career in TV, I've learned a hell of a lot on here. This is the first place I come when there's TV news. This site really has been got me through Covid and I've been on here hourly while working from home to see what's new. I really am very sad that this will all be over in less than a month. I'll probably shed a tear on the 31st which seems like an odd thing to say about a website. I'll even miss the rotas.
Thank you Asa for setting it up and keeping it going. Your hard work is very much appreciated by the overwhelming majority on here even if it might not feel like that all the time. Thanks also to the mods over the years as well for dealing with some often... unusual people.
And thanks to Rob for setting up a new place to chat, I hope to see you all there.
By the way will the secret forum be closing too..?

Well, if Oneness crashed the servers, best to get out before the BBC logo gets its inevitable Reithanisation.
I've been looking at the site since 2013 IIRC, and have been a member for a couple of years. While the news is unexpected shock, I completely understand the decision. I can only copy what others have said - thank you Asa (and all other contributors) for your tireless efforts, and I wish you all the best in the future. Props for archiving the site as well.

Wow, just wow. I've just been catching up with this, and I'm actually gutted. Having launched TV Whirl the very same day as TV Forum way back in 2001, I have shared a birthday these past 20 years, and had already prepped the anniversary message to go on here in just a few weeks. Now to find out this is the last such year we will share, it's a terrible blow.
It is a decision that can be fully understood though Asa. You've put up with a lot from people on here over the years, keeping this place running every day, despite how little thanks ever comes your way for it. I certainly wish you all the best in whatever you do next.
Edit - a bit more from me personally here - https://www.tvwhirl.co.uk/

Good riddance. It's never been the same since Rota talk ended.
Exit's over there.

Absolutely devastated to hear TV Forum will be no more as of the end of the month! 😕 This site has become a firm favourite of mine since before I became a member 7 years ago, I check it everyday just as I do social media and I'm going to miss checking in with all of the different topics and posts. It's been a pleasure creating different mocks in the Gallery too and I've loved having endless debates about channel branding and just generally geeking out with television graphic design.
Thank you so much for bringing us TV Forum! I hope we can all reconvene on another forum very soon.

I'm not a regular poster, but I've been visiting the site virtually every day for around 13 years, which is rather scary now I think about it!
Thanks to Asa for providing such a great forum for so many years - and for taking on the burdens of running it for so long. There are some fantastic people on this forum, and I hope there is a place moving forward that continues the spirit of TV Forum without some of the baggage that Asa speaks of.
It's been a pleasure - thanks TV Forum!

Blimey. Well, Asa, first of all thanks for keeping this place going all these years and it's entirely understandable why you feel the time is right to close it now. Lots of memorable moments along the years, as you mentioned.
When I first joined 20-odd years ago I was still over a decade away from joining the industry. I'm a bit scared to look back at some of the things I might have posted but it was a great place to learn lots of things about how television worked and I'm absolutely certain that some of the things I picked up along the years helped me out when it came to my job interview!
As an "insider", it was a bit of a different experience, with the biggest frustration being when I knew things that I wasn't able to publicly say while reading pages of speculation (though of course with the things I didn't know anything about, I was probably joining in with the speculation!). This place was also not a bad barometer for finding out how many people might or might not have just noticed a breakdown...
Thanks to those who have contributed some really fascinating posts along the years, and thanks to Rob for getting a new place set up (are you sure you need the stress..?

I'm relishing the challenge. I'm not going to lie, it's not going to be easy, and I'm very nervous about doing this, but I don't want the conversation to die.
I will do my best to ensure that the conversation continues, albeit in a new home.
