Very sad to hear this news today. I didn't expect it, at all. TV Forum has been a major reason to view the internet on a daily basis since 2001 when I was at University. Having been interested in TV Presentation since my teens, being a bit geeky, it was a breath of fresh air to find place on the web, where you could discuss rebrands and logos and the like, without feeling awkward. It was good to speak to all you lot and I generally felt comfortable with all the banter that has been shared over the years, despite me not having any TV knowledge or insider gossip. My occupation is channels away from anything relating to TV, yet, I feel I have learnt so much and gained a valuable insight into background regarding presentation. So much so, I have joked to my friends that I wouldn't mind becoming a continuity announcer one day, as it'll probably be so less stressful to my usual everyday work. However, with the plethora or automated announcements these days, it likely isn't as rewarding as it once was when Ted May and Terry Pearson for example, were in the role for Central when I was a youngster. Alas. I've also been thankful that TV Forum has allowed for discussions of the production of specific TV shows, to an extent, rather than the generic threads of programmes on other forums.

Thank you to Asa for all your hard work over the years. I understand why you would like a change and I suppose not having to monitor this all the time , will make a huge difference to your life. 20 yes or so is a big commitment and I guessed TV Forum would run forever and ever, I never expected it to close and so suddenly. But I see your very valid reasons for making the decision you have.

But, I hope we all move on to whichever new forum that will receive the baton so that again, we can share, post, give kudos and discuss TV Presentation that we all care passionately about. And I hope we all strive to keep our original nicknames and within a few weeks, it'll feel like nothing has changed and everything will be back to normal once again.

Thanks, once again, Asa, for everything you've done!

Class 390s weren't even around at the time. I think a picture of an HST became the default response from a few people if someone was talking crap.

It feels like I've only had an account on this forum for five minutes - I've only recently lost the "new member" tag - but I've been a silent lurker for many years.

As someone who's been fascinated by TV pres since the age of 7, when Rhythm & Movement came along in 2002 (I can remember seeing it for the first time, and asking where the balloon had gone!), it's been such an amazing resource. I've spent many an evening reading along 'live' with discussions about a breakdown in progress, or a particular show, or a new ident package. It goes on. This is one of the only sites on the entire Internet where my rather geeky interests just "fit".

I don't know why it took me so long to sign up and join in the conversation, but I suppose I'm glad I (eventually) did. You people are the best. Thanks, Asa, for running this website for all these years. I'll miss it greatly, but I'm incredibly grateful that it will remain as an archive. It's a time capsule for so many moments in TV.

In the meantime, whichever forum becomes the de-facto successor to TVF, I'll make sure to join in from day one. I'm sure that if enough of us make the switch, there's no reason why the new site can't carry on in the same spirit. It's not an ending, just a change.

But again, Asa - from this long-time lurker, rookie poster - thank you.

Hi everyone - and bye it seems. I've been an avid lurker of TV Forum for many years however only decided to register fairly recently. I just wanted to express my disappointment in hearing this news and would like to wish everyone involved in the production and maintenance of the site all the best for the future.

I also wanted to say thank you for many a lunchtime wasted aimlessly browsing through posts and being amazed at some of the work in the gallery. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this site and all the best.

I'd like to express my thanks to you, Asa, and the moderators, for all that you've done. I know from my own (very limited) experience of these things that there's far more to running a site than regular users will ever see "on the surface". Please be assured that your countless hours of work have been very much appreciated.

Like many others, TV Forum has been part of my daily routine for, eek, several years now. In all that time, it's been a pleasure to be part of this community.

For someone outside "the industry" like myself, it has been fascinating to hear the stories and behind-the-scenes insight from those in the know, and it's been great to contribute to the various threads and debates over the years with my fellow members. A forum is defined by the quality of its contributors, and anyone reading back through the archive will find a rich vein of interesting, informative, and entertaining conversations.

You should feel an enormous sense of pride in what you have built, and it will be sad to see it come to an end.

So, thanks again, and I wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

I’m sorry, but an HST will always be better than any other train!

So now that I’ve stopped gasping, I just want to echo the warm wishes of others. It has been a hell of a journey and I’m always glad I played my part back in the early days. I haven’t tended to post much these days but I’ve always checked in every day and that’s the biggest compliment any of us can pay to the success of TV Forum.

So goodbye to all that and thanks for everything Asa.

Although I’m still expecting a plot twist at the end of March where Asa rips off his mask and is revealed to be Jaron Brass. “...and I would have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for you pesky kids.”

But perhaps, much more likely - “As the lockdown from a brand new Coronavirus ends, a brand new lockdown begins.” Crying or Very sad

I'd consider myself fairly new, all things considered - but this is bittersweet. Obviously this is very sad, and I'll miss most of it (although maybe not the general vibe lately). However, the forum has been a great place for my interest in TV pres, and I'll definitely join whatever succeeds this. Thanks for your insane hard work over the years, Asa!

Well this is very sad news. I have been on here since 2007 and it was always a very considered place to learn about TV presentation.

I certainly understand why you are giving up as there did seem to be a lot of politics and bad temper rants happening on the threads in recent times.

Anyway I was never a great poster as there was always much more knowledgeable insiders on here which made for many an interesting read.

I wish you well Asa and thank you for bringing us TV forum!

Best Wishes!
Andrew
