It's been 10 years for that logo, and i sort of think it needs to be changed. The slanted box logo of the 90's only lasted for 7 years and so did the corporate logo that in '85!
On the other hand ITV can't keep a corportate look for more than 3 or 4 years!
Don't you think it's time for the BBC to rethink their corporate logo??
Short answer: no. It's still modern and doesn't look tired so why change it? And remember, both BBC channels have just rebranded with the present logo so surely this means it's going to be around for a while yet?
IMO it would look good if it had a glassy/glossy effect but I think it looks fine as it is now TBH.
Agreed it doesn't need a change but some effects to the logo wouldn't go amiss. The BBC "ident" on their DVDs/ Videos needs updating though, that has been in use since 1997

As designs go it's actually quite alright, I think, as is the music.
Just because it's close to 10 years old, doesn't mean it needs to be replaced. In fact there are many things about 1997 BBC that outshine the current counterparts that replaced them.

I don't have a problem with the age just that it doesn't do much (but then I did prefer the previous one) although I do like the music
During the snooker on the BBC there was a Fault Slide due to a loss of feed from the event, why did BBC Sport have their own? why didn't BBC 1 use their own?

If you mean the slide that's in the other thread, that was from the interactive coverage, not BBC One/Two. Therefore, the BBC Sport slide was used.

Definitely not. That BBC logo works very well, and doesn't look aged in the slightest. In fact a company is lucky if a logo doesn't age, because it makes the company more memorable if they don't have to change it all of the time. Just look at IBM, they've used the same logo since 1972.

I don't know if it still applies, but when a BBC Sport programme is on air on either BBC One or BBC Two they tend to use the TC5 gallery as BBC Sport are in control of the broadcast, so you would see a BBC Sport style fault caption or slide. It saves them having to throw back to Network Control, although if any music was to be played over the caption it would most likely come from Network Control.
I believe the same applies to CBBC broadcasts on BBC ONE/TWO, but of course they use their own gallery, not TC5's!

So if there was a major breaking news story and BBC N24 were simulcasting on BBC One and a fault occured, would BBC N24 switch to network so that they handed over control to the Main network controller so that they were in charge of BBC One and the music and breakdown slide.
Or would N24 handle it from their own gallery and use their own Breakdown caption and music?
