Have to say the caption is still there but does look very flash : Mr. Green

Yuck that is one of the worst breakdown slides EVER! It tells you nothing at all! The announcer is awful too... he just repeats the same phrase over and over... very tedious and likely to make people switch off or over than actually stay.

BBC lead the way here... they always keep people informed and at least change the script from one announcement to the next. Also, they have a slide that informs you that something is wrong not just a logo that tells you nothing at all!

Even something simple like "Sorry there is a fault" would do! Cripes what a poor show but well done to Philip and Fearne... they are professional and nice about it all.

Worst? How exactly is it the worst, the previous was quite bland, this had a bit of flare in it. Fair enough about it not being descriptive but it certainly isn't the worst IMO.

Well it was just a logo... anyone who was deaf would have no idea what was going on. Bland, dull, boring... thus the worst!

It's because ITV pre record the CA so it's not live and they can't adapt their voice to the situation if you get what i mean Rolling Eyes

As has been pointed out in other threads on this forum discussing this incident, continuity is and was on this occasion live, so really there's no excuse for not 'adapting to the situation'.

I'm willing to be corrected on this, but as This Morning is a live programme surely it would be subtitled live too? Do breakdowns continue to be subtitled if the programme feed fails?

On this occasion, the breakdown was subtitled. From memory, the subtitles said (sound problem) instead of what the presenters were saying during the microphone swapping, while the ITV1 logo was on screen the subtitles included what the CA was saying and oddly said (techno music) while the non-techo music was playing.

Yep. Presumably the same subs went out on STV and UTV which must have been a bit confusing!

This is correct, because if you listen to the announcements, he says it's slightly differently each time, although they are only minor differences. He also stutters slightly when the slide first came up, if it were pre-recorded they would have a 'perfect voiceover'.

There was just a cockup just before 6 on ITV1

A slide appeared 'Southern Transmission Centre, line KRS....'

This was later replaced by the generic ITV1 logo and then the regional news started as normal

It was presumably a promo that was missing

Is this the right place to post the following? I was doing some home recording for friend in America, and caught this when watching the repeat of H&A. The person who does the SL looked like she was being rewinded or FF, i always thought it was live.

On pre-recorded programmes sign language is also pre-recorded, there will be 2 master tapes - one signed and one not.

However of course the signing is done as live - there aren't normally edits in the signing.
