I'm pretty sure The X Factor does come from The London Studios, you know.
lol, TLS might be good at making their studios suit lots of different shows but that is a very big effort even for them! X Factor takes over a huge space at it's studio, which is Fountain in Wembley. Two studios in fact, only joined together.

I noticed that the Take That thing was copyright London Weekend Television 2006 (full name, at that!).
Well when I was in London and walked down to look at the studio there were people outside and I asked them which show they were waiting to see and they said Question of Sport. Its University Challenge thats made in Manchester.
Ahh right, thanks for that Wasn't at all sure myself as never been to the show, just heard it was mainly in Manchester, and London from time to time. Interesting - is testament again to how many different formats TLS can conform their studios to.
so why can I get tickets to see a Question of Sport for filming at the Granada Studios in Manchester??? It's been at Granada ever since BBC Manchester closed most of their studios and merged their production crew with Granada's. I actually know someone who went to see AQOS last year and it came from Granada! - hence the reason for so many NOrth West football managers (esp Sam Allardyce and the continual appearance of ex Man City manager Peter Reid - who is actually great friends with Sam!!!!!).
Granada Studios has...
A Question Of Sport (BBC Manchester)
University Challenge (ITV/Granada for BBC)
The Price Is Right (TalkbackTHAMES for ITV)
What The Papers Say (ITV/Granada for BBC)
Gloria Hunniford's The Heaven and Earth Show (BBC Manchester)
Stars In Their Eyes (ITV/Granada)
The Royle Family (ITV/Granada for BBC)
The Street (ITV/Granada for BBC)
One question about A Question Of Sport - I know it used to be made on Sunday's and then after filming the entire crew would then have Sunday lunch - does this still happen????
erm - apologies for hijaking this thread and going off topic but I will defend programmes made in Manchester (and Manchester's general reputation - although I now live in Den Haag) at all costs!!!!

I don;t mind this whole topice is rat bag full of loss ends, don;t worry!
X Factor doesnt come from the London Studios - its a Talback Thames production I think, not a LWT (ITV Plc) production.
Anyone can use it, provided they can cough up the cash and their name isn't Paul O'Grady Family Fortunes is a Talkback Thames production and was recorded there. Even the BBC use it from time to time, with Have I got News for You being a regular client (yes I know HIGNFY is a Hatrick Production, but it is for the BBC and is a good recent example).

Talking about studios, I went past YTV today, and besides the one on the front that fell off, there's still chevrons all over the outside of the building on all signs
It's like the building that time forgot. There's also signs pointing out the parking for "Calendar and Tonight guests only"

I still don't buy the "it fell off" argument how hard can it be to get a man up a ladder with a hammer ? It's been 2 years, an ITV Yorkshire flag flies from the building anyway.
The remaining logs on the boards are not about maintaining regional identity, I suspect it's probably just being cheap.

You're wrong.
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I'm pleased for you if you are right!
Has it (and Pop Idol, etc) not come from The London Studios in its life?
Nope sorry, Pop Idol was also at Fountain. It's an awful long run to take up Studio 1 at The London Studios, especially near Christmas when a flurry of ITV festive shows are recorded there. Also, X Factor and Pop Idol are massive shows which like to have a stadium tour kind of set - obviously not of exactly the same magnitude, but as close as you can get in a TV studio enviroment and Fountain seem to have it down a note. Mr Cowell seems to favour them too.
