SKY News first again - they just flashed CCTV pictures of the Ealing bomber walking away from his car, before it exploded.
Mathrew Amroliwola on News 24 could only read the Press Association newsflash that the CCTV pictures had been released; and ITN 24 ran them as 'breaking news' more than 22 minutes after SKY had first flashed them.

Seeing as you're new here (or at least you seem to be new), I think it's worth pointing out that this is a presentation forum and there is no place for posts stating who broke the news first. It's got nothing to do with presentation. The general chat forum is a better place for this. :

Oh right. It's just that I've seen others make exactely the same comments as me so I thought I'd join the bandwagon seeing as I'm getting totally fed up with these types of posts.
Out of interest, did the Anti Terrorist Branch release the CCTV footage, or have the broadcasters got it through other means?
I ask only because there is plenty of CCTV footage of the BBC bomb, but these were not released, I suspect for two reasons...
1: Interfereing with any future Court Case
2: BBC Security
Woh! Pull back there. Sky may have got the CCTV footage slightly earlier than N24 but that was nothing compared with the disgraceful lack of footage for
absolutely ages
the night it happened. I think you may have chosen the wrong word in using 'again'.

Don't worry, Matt! I was one of them too a couple of months back
But I certainly agree that I don't feel compelled to worry about who was first with what story, where and when. The majority of people are quite happy with their fix of news at lunch, tea-time and at night. Very few have their stopwatches on, counting the seconds between Sky News/BBCN24 and the rest.
Must lead to an interesting life...

Hey, just to please everyone...
During the London building collapse both networks got pictures at EXACTLY the same time.
There are occasions where the BBC wins over Sky, that's always going to happen - it would be stupid to suggest it wouldn't.
But then again there are times when Sky wins over the BBC, Kosovo being the obvious example where in possibly one of the biggest news events of recent times, that broadcasters actually had ages to prepare for, was covered awfully on the BBC. Sky went live during the Sunrise programme whereas the BBC were just starting their picture coverage in the evening.
Then again there have been occasions, although non quite so important, where the BBC have beaten Sky.
There have been occasions where ITN have beaten the BBC and Sky, the attack on MI6 being a good example.
Just on a sort of related issue, Sky's specially designed graphics they are using to cover the bombing look excellent. Hopefully this is the sort of thing we will see more of after the relaunch.

Then again there are those of us (only two i think on this forum) who are not multichannel users - only 1,2,3,4 (and 5 on a good dayish cos i'm lucky - or not ) - who couldn't give a toss - as we only get the news when the channels choose to put it on, or get breaking news if it's really important. it is quite sad to time who gets the news first - after all it's only a few mins, and it's only really important if you're a journalist or some bod from the Guinness book of records
The only reason I ever notice is because I normally have one news channel or another on as background noise during the day, especially if I'm working.
If something interesting is happening I will flick about to see who is providing the better coverage and watch them.
It's just that generally the one who gets round to reporting the news first is one step ahead of the others.
This happened during those airstrikes on Iraq, a couple of months ago.
Sky were reporting it a while before the Beeb and were always one step ahead of them, which made it more interesting to follow.

Guys, guys, guys .... Let me leap to my Beavis-named friends defense here...
I know exactly who he is, and if I were you lot (for the sake of getting an odd behind-the-scenes scoop) I'd be nice to them (him or her! Couldn't tell you)
