Burley and Partridge argue as they come off air!

Wonder what that was about then? They both seemed perfectly fine when they came off air.

'Professional matters'

Such as?

I could only guess that there'd been some sort of dispute between the two about something on air, perhaps one of them made a mistake or something?

While were on this subject of presenters falling out, is it me or does Jeremy Thompson never seem to present with Lisa Aziz? They always seem to ignore each other if ever they present together, which is a rare event to say the least.

No doubt The Guardian's Monkey will reveal all tomorrow.

This was the original I think which has just reappeared as if by mysterious Ikonboard magic.

Grr... getting really irritated with these vanishing threads...

Anyway! Big news!

On Tuesday, during the 4pm bulletin, after which there was this wee scrap, I was taping all of the links in an attempt to record the new break bumper - so as soon as I can get round to capturing (may be tonight) you'll be able to see just what the argument was about.

Here's one example, they return after the weather and Frank opens his mouth but Kay buts in to break the story that the Selby trial jury (could've been Payne trial actually) have gone home for the evening. Frank slams his gob shut and looks irritated because it was obviously his link. Then this happened again a bit later and then the final signoff they looked like they were supposed to share and Kay did it all - again with Frank opening his mouth ready to speak and closing it again when Kay was reading his lines. Makes for very surprising viewing.

If he did slap her then she deserved it.

Well, here they are.

Forget the bin Laden tapes - here are the Burley Files *cue dramatic music*

Ok, let's have a picture by picture analysis:

It's the first link of the 4pm hour, Frank doesn't look too thrilled and sounds a tad glum when talking about the 'coming up' story.

Now, 15 minutes later, has anything changed?
http://www.davistom.btinternet.co.uk/burpart5.jpg
It's Frank's link... he's going for it.

http://www.davistom.btinternet.co.uk/burpart3.jpg
He's got it, it's his... now all he needs to do it link into the coming up story for Kay... but what's she doing?

http://www.davistom.btinternet.co.uk/burpart2.jpg
Oh no! Disaster hits. Frank, just about to link into the report, is ignored by Kay who reports something about the Payne trial instead and later (not on video) goes to take Frank's link herself...
VIDEO: http://www.davistom.btinternet.co.uk/skyn2.rm

It's the end of the bulletin and a now glum Frank slumps and shakes his head at Kay (look at Frank when Kay says 'Osama bin Laden', it's near the end) and slumps down... he aint happy...
http://www.davistom.btinternet.co.uk/burpart10.jpg
They're supposed to share this bit... but whos go is it? They've both got their mouths open, they're both ready to speak... but who's it gonna be?

http://www.davistom.btinternet.co.uk/burpart6.jpg
As Frank directs an angry look at Kay, Miss Burley takes over the show - Frank doesn't even get a chance to say goodbye.

So there you go. Here are the facts, decide for yourselves.

It doesn't matter what she did, to hit someone so hard that their head hits a door and they get a bruised jaw as a result, just because she stepped on his toes professionally, is completely unacceptable.

Partridge should have been sacked on the spot. And Burley should have him done for assault.

Oh come off it, this is The Mirror we're talking about. You honestly believe that?

I think if Kay had been that badly hurt she wouldn't have been on air 24 hours later. She more than likely was guided out of the room by Frank and she tripped and fell on to the door.

I doubt seriously that she was slammed into the side of a bloody door and suffered brusing.

That is very funny !!!! You can see Partridge is clearly trying to get in as Burley rounds the whole thing up, denying him the opportunity to get a word in.

She's obviously really **** ed off about something, she won't even look at the guy !! The body language from Burley says it all really. Maybe she had PMT. How unprofessional of them to allow it to spill onto the air whatever the reason.

Broadcast journalism is a very competitive nasty profession. If you want to be on the top you've got to fight your way up there and fight to keep your place. If Mr Partridge can't take the heat, then he should get out of the kitchen (or however the euphemism goes). Maybe Kay Burley was a little **** y, a 'physical' fight is ridiculous. But it is a tough business - they both should've been a little more professional.

OK, OK... if what the Mirror says is true then what I said goes IMO.

If not, and it's a pack of lies... well, I'd like to see Partridge suing for libel quite frankly!!!

Imagine the BBC and ITV's glee at a story like that, not to mention the non-Murdoch press lol http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/biggrin.gif
