I've found out that the BBC Comedy 'Allo 'Allo is coming back 1 last time, and a new special is being recorded in Manchester later this year.

Tickets for the recording and now available for the public.

Did anyone watch it in the 90's/80's?? I was really into Keeping up Appearances, Birds of a Feather, 2.4 Children and One foot in the grave but never really got into 'Allo 'Allo.

So, should series come back from the past?? Are the BBC running out of new ideas so they’re recycling old formats??

Really? Seriously? Shocked

(If you're gonna say "I've found out that...", could you at least back it up with a source or something?)

If true, it's probably not a good idea, IMHO. It's best to leave viewers' happy memories of classic sitcoms as they are. (" Grace and Favour" , anyone..?) Confused

Unless it's just a short skit for Comic Relief or something - they're just about acceptable (e.g. the CIN (or was it Comic Relief?) " Butterflies " skit, a few years ago). But an entire, say, 30-minute episode, especially if starring the now-significantly-older original cast, would probably be a bit of an embarrassment.

I'm sure that the likes of Vicky Michelle and Arthur Bostrum are sick-to-the-back-teeth of saying "Oh, Renee!" and "Good Moaning" (respectively) after all these bloomin' years...

I've been e-mailed by Granada Manchester's Audience Team offering Tickets..... I'm sure loads of other people have been contacted by them too.

It’s being filmed in March!

It's pathetic digging this up after so long. Haven't they learned anything from Only Fools and Horses, which had the perfect ending until they went and added three more episodes - three which most fans probably prefer not to acknowledge!

In recent years the only exception would be the return of The Royle Family - but that worked as it was truly about tying up the series with a neat conclusion. Now that Nana's died I don't think they'd be able to bring it back again.

I'd like to see a return of The Morecambe and Wise show and Hancock's Half Hour. Maybe next year.

I don't see why. Nana was only in a handful of the original episodes. It's not like if Jim or Barbara had died.

Well Edith won't be coming back, as the actress who played her died a few years ago.

I was pissing by the door, when I heard two shats from a revolver. I walked in, saw you holding the smirking goon and I can see you are the guilty potty!

Or: I have a mop here, would you like to take a leak?

Not forgetting the other characters' catchphrases : "Listen very carefully, I shall this only once"
"It is I, LaClerc"
"The flashing knobs"
" 'tler!"
"You stupid woman!"

And the unmistakeable Fallen Madonna With the Big Boobies

I don't know how they would manage without Carmena Silvera (sp?) who played Edith, as somebody pointed out she passed away a few years back.

Well, as its only a one-off special, I think the show should be fine without Carmena, however, a whole series would be a different thing altogether.

If this one-off is a success and what with the success of the one-off 'Royle family', I wonder if the BBC will be doing more one-off specials from classics that have gone by.
I would love Birds of a Feather and Keeping up Appearances to come back!

Well, I'd rather they concentrated on finding the next generation of hit sitcoms rather than digging up the past to boost their Christmas schedules!

Did the series end at the end of WW2? If so are we to presume this new episode is after the war?

One word: Dated.

I don't care if they show the odd repeat again but to bring it back would be a mistake. Even if it is just for one more episode.

I agree with what Brekkie said about Only Fools. Finished with them becoming millionaires, buying mansions, walking into the sunset then - the illusion was killed by them returning in 2001 with them all losing the money and living back at Nelson Mandela House! Not to mention the "last-ever" episode with them going to France and picking up an illegal immigrant "Gary!". Rolling Eyes

I like repeats of Only Fools. What annoys me is that people complained they were showing Only Fools on BBC1 far too much - so in 2005 they practically got rid of it altogether! Where's the logic in that?

Now I'm not saying repeats are a good thing but I'd far prefer a repeat of a good old classic comedy such as 'Allo 'Allo instead of celebrity talentfest 2000 hosted by Vernon Kay etc.
