Alistair Yates is back in the UK, and he's back at none other than the BBC. He had been working in Berlin on the German/Spanish/English news channel DW-TV. (Great channel BTW)

I would of hoped that he would go back to Sky News - he did launch the channel after all, but no such luck. It would be great to see him back on there.

Great to see him back on UK television anyway.

I watched him last night, in my opinion hes a bit to serious for the overnight slot he would be better on during the day or perhaps in the evening.

Well I think he is very good at his job - he speaks very clearly, and I think he should take over Heather's old shift. Its nice when presenters have a joke, but not every 5 mins, especially on the overnight shift, when it is relayed by BBC World as well.

I thought he was quite good aswell! But remember, it was only his first time, so give him a chance, and he'll get better!

Err - it's definitely NOT Alistair's first time presenting N24/World joint overnights.

He presented them for quite a while before leaving the BBC for DW. It was his first time for a while - but not his first ever...

Is it the first time since News 24 went corporate? Can anyone remember who did overnights in the corporate era, before Clarence Mitchell and Rageh Omaar took over?

Well overnights have had in the last year or so in no particular order ...
Darren Jordan, Annita McNaught, Janet Barrie, Samira Ahmed, Jane Hill, Adrian Finnighan, George Eykyn, Joanna Gosling, Lucy Hockings, Peter Coe and some others that have slipped my mind.

I think Mike Embley might have done a couple of overnights, as well as Deborah MacKenzie, Jon Kay and Fergus Nicoll.
