Does anyone know Alex Deakin, I'd love to meet him one day because he's my favourite weather presenter!
Any info as well would be great!

You could try writing to the BBC Weather Centre - I spent about four hours there writing for a paper for 8 - 13 year olds about the weather. I was with the Head of the Weather Centre, Helen Young (now on maternity leave) and stood just off camera in the studio when she did the 1.30 forecast. They were all really great there...
Does anyone know who is in temporary charge as Senior Forecaster whilst Helen Young is on maternity leave?
BBC Weather could be being run by anyone considering at least three presenters are now on maternity leave. They are Louise Lear, Helen Young and i cant remember the other ones name it think its carol something.

I presume it would be as you say for the e-mail. Most are! As for who is running the department.... must be something about sitting on a particular chair in the weather centre that so many are pregnant!
Alex is a really nice guy - as are all the News 24 weather presenters. They sit with the journalists in the newsroom rather than in the weather centre.

Nicky (or anyone else who knows) - how many of the weather/sport bulletins are done live during the night (if any). The often all seem pre-recorded.

I think most are pre-recorded.
This morning the great Alex Deakin said 'That's it for now, I'll be back with more in about half an hour'. That was at 05.58.
After that it was Carol Kirkwood!

They are normally all live up til 0130, then we have a selection of recorded ones to use through the night. But if the weather is changing (storms/floods etc) they will ALL be live. The weather presenter has to prepare and record the 14 regional forecasts you see during Breakfast so they are quite busy overnight, they also have to do the forecast in the middle of the night on Radio 2.
