does anybody know why the house numbers in Albert square are not in any chronological order.

they start with 1, 3, 5 between the playground and car lot, then 23, 25, 27, 29, 31, facing bridge street, then 18 and 20 next to the Beale's house, 41, 43, 45, bridge street, then 46 (queen Vic) and 47. Don't understand why they weren't numbered chronologically when they programmes started.

I assume the "Bokies" next to "Beale's Plaice" is supposed to read "Bookies"?

Have you not even stretched your neck to look outside your own window? Roads are numbered with odd on one side and even on the other.....unless it is a cul-de-sac, in which case they are sequencial (missing out 13 as all roads do).

This really isn't important in the grand scheme of things (and is not particularly TV related) but what rubbish! So no roads in the UK have a number 13 house??

You've totally missed stevek's point! He's begging questions such as: "Why is there no odd numbered houses 7 - 21?" Rolling Eyes

Thank you, my point exacly, it's as though the planners numbered them going out of the square then back into it again. If they are all meant to be odd numbers why are 18 and 20 (even numbers ) between 31 and 41, then the queen vic is number 46?. there is not even any consistency in odd or evens.

As Albert square seems to start at the car Lot numbering them clockwise from there would have made sense. The brannings being number 1, the Fowlers 6, Truemans number 9, Wickes 11 and the slaters at 15.

Looking at that map makes the set look like one big cul-de-sac Very Happy

PS most if not all streets have a number 13, it's just hotels and tall buildings that don't have a room 13 or a 13th floor.

Again - sweeping generalisation. I've been to plenty of buildings which have a floor 13, and hotels have room 13s too.

my mistake,

Not seen any streets without a number 13 but the modern flats I lived in ten years back had number 12a instead of 13.

the eastenders webcams look interesting tonight

I believe in either Japan or Thailand they do not use the number 13 & just number floors: ...11, 12, 14, 15...

I read this somewhere although can't remember what paper it was
