Alastair Campell has finally resigned, Downing Street Confirms.

ITV News broke it first, Chris Rogers spoke off his head for 3 minutes and suddenly Dan Rivers managed to report on it!

Sky were second, with their huge breaking news screen.

BBC were, unsurprisingly, last and are hopelessly coming to terms with it.

I can't say I'm surprised, but an interesting turn of events for nevertheless.

Lets hope people start giving the ITV news channel a chance now and give it credit where credit is due!

It is now my first choice of News Channel in the UK followed closely by Sky but i dont even bother looking at News 24 now!

Well done to everyone at ITV News Channel! And to Chris Rogers who seems to be a great addition to their team!

The ITV News channel have had Political Correspondants Angus Walker and Nick Robinson on the phone, various ex-communications directors, other people liked with the story and Mark Austin has just conducted a live interview with John Prescott. They have also used clips from the Tonight programme where Lauren Taylor (Who is also in the studio) followed him for a few months.
Chris Rogers is excellent at dealing with breaking news, despite lots of reports coming in he manages to stay calm and formal.

I was flicking about on the TV, after having heard the news, and I caught the endcap of an ITN bulletin on Channel 4. I don't think there was a bulletin scheduled for mid-afternoon, so were they the first terrestrial channel to break the news? I haven't seen anything on the BBC or ITV, unless I've missed a news report?

ITV and the BBC have just had their usual afternoon bulletins. Razz

ITV1 has a news summary at 3pm, and BBC One at 3.20 anyway, so I don't suppose theyre would be any point in halting the schedule for news that can be relayed in a few minutes time anyway.

Mind you, ITV and the BBC didn't mind when they had news specials 3 days in a row for the missing internet girl/boy/thing, and for the death of David Kelly, but that was in the morning, and the programmes are rubbish then anyway.
