Watching Five News at 1203 and Rob Butler has just apologised for an alarm sound in the studio.

He said they were trying to find out the cause and sort things out, then read into a VT.

They have now come out of the VT and it sounds louder - but that might be because Rob has moved in the studio ?

Interesting - I wonder if they will have to evacuate the studio - could be a fire alarm, but I would have thought the Floor Manager would have evacuated the studio in this case...

Or is Five News still from the newsroom (albeit converted) ? If that is the case they may not have a Floor Manager...

Well - they have just come off-air (With an apology for a 'few technical problems at the Five News Centre')

If that was a Fire Alarm then it is terrible that they stayed on-air as long as they did.

The ITN News Channel has also stopped live broadcasts. It is now showing a Recorded Earlier caption.

I wonder if the ITV News at 1230 will also be affected.

Was there just a static apology caption on Channel 5 news for the last half then?

ITV Lunchtime News seems fine.

Rob Butler said that they were ending the programme due to 'Technical problems' and then closing titles ran. There was an ad-break, with a freeze of the last ad lasting a little too long than one would expect, and then C5 Presentation apologised that they were unable to return to Five News and read into a Russell Grant filler programme, which ran for the rest of the scheduled Five News slot.

Yeah, I turned on C5 and did wonder why Russell had been promoted to a C5 News reporter! I didn't stick around long enough to realise it was a filler though.

Yes, I've noticed C5 like inserting Russell Grant where they have a few mins to spare - they should put something more interesting on, like er....that colourbar screen they had just before the channel launched! Smile
