Alan Carr's Epic Gameshow

Pretty much a retake on Gameshow Marathon in my opinion. (May 2020)

Not surprised Name that Tune is there as that's a Fremantle format.

I went to a Bill Bailey pilot of Name That Tune a few years back, he was alright as host but that particular version never got picked up. If I recall it had an American sounding theme tune playing as the audience was coming in.

It's just been revived in the US, with a series filmed in Australia.

I don’t think this will do as well as the rest of the series. It’s not a show many under 40 will remember as apart from a brief reboot in the early Channel 5 days, it hasn’t been seen since the late 80s and I don’t think it’s been repeated much either.

Actually it isn't, although Fremantle has had the option for it at various points in history and have optioned it for this. I believe it still owned by the family of the man who created it. This is why the current American version isn't made by Fremantle and the Bill Bailey pilot wasn't either.

Name That Tune will be added to the list of shows for the new series. Think it is the only new addition though.

And that graphic there confirms none of the other five formats are being removed to make way. I guess they haven't decided to revive any of them as their own show yet then, as happened with Gameshow Marathon (which removed Family Fortunes for it's second series because the Vernon Kay version had been commissioned).

The series ran from 1976-1998, and was originally hosted by Tom O'Connor, and later Lionel Blair and Jools Holland.

Well that's an odd pairing.

Who made the Bill Bailey pilot?

IIRC it was September Films who made Celebrity Squares.

They did Name That Tune as part of the second series of Gameshow Marathon, and it was probably one of the more successful episodes of that series, it was very nicely done.

For many of the audience, Take Your Pick and Strike It Lucky are ancient history, they may have had repeats on Challenge but that's all.
