Just been announced that George Alagiah is to front the new nightly news bulletin on BBC Four.

Full report on Media Guardian

I would have added this to the thread on the new studio for the bulletin - but it's gone (surprise surprise).

Isn't a nightly news bulletin on BBC FOUR rather redundant?

It is going to be a World dominated bulletin that also goes out live on BBC World.

Good luck George! It'll be a sad loss on the BBC Six and One O'clock News' part, but good luck nevertheless!

What time will it go out on BBC4?  Will it have World-style titles?

Also did you notice Chris 'An extra hour, blimey!' Eakin introducing BBC World News as 'Welcome to BBC News 24 I'm Chris Eakin ... etc ... Good Evening' yesterday evening?

It's going out at 8pm I think and I presume will be world-style...

Katherine, I suspect George will continue on the One and Ten and just give up his weekend duties... It will give him more experience for possibly stepping into Buerk/Sissons shoes when they leave.

The bulletin is planned for 8pm - it will have its own set and so I assume own style.
AFAIK George is moving full time to BBC4 - and not doing any national bulletins.

BBC3 has yet to be approved by the Government
BBC4 is probably around March time

And Cbeebies and CBBC Digital for February - well, that's when the other kids channels are doing their relaunches etc..

So BBC Knowledge will be restricted to 7pm -->
for a month then.

Cheers, Asa

No more George on the national?  That's a shame, he's one of my favourite presenters.  But I've always thought he should front his own bulletin, he's certainly good enough!

Can't wait to see this new style - it's gonna be good.
