Do we know who the guests are next week?

Katie Price and Peter Andre (...obviously)
David Gest (part of ITVs Make Use of the I'm A Celeb contestants)
erm... and probably... some American... Joan Rivers.

RadioTimes says that James Cracknell, Ben Fogle and Myleene Klass are on next week, with music from The Feeling.

It did seem to stink of ITV-friendly guests! All three tonight had ITV connections!

Al Murray and Jordan should be funny. I wonder how far he will go with David Gest!?

I was being sarcastic, however I wasn't wrong with my original guess Myleene Klass.... is she playing piano? What?

Myleene singing a Queen song - that should be 'interesting' - he is really going to lay into her for Hear'say!

I looked on the website for the guests http://www.itv.com/happyhour/ but it was useless.

To "get" the The Pub Landlord, you have to see the irony in it-- his performance is very post-modern I think.

The point of the "Pub Landlord" is that Al Murray is lampooning loud-mouthed and reactionary pub landlords who think they can be offensively opinionated to anyone they like, because they own a public house. AM is basically being parodic about the way pub landlords often use their pubs as an extension of their egos.

By extension he is also taking the piss out of bigoted people/bullies, by satirically exposing their ignorance-- a bit like Borat does I suppose. The difference being that AM's character is the bigot (rather like Alf Garnett), whereas Borat interviews bigots-- and is one himself too! Laughing

It does seem strange that Al Murray uses his own name for this persona... but the real Al Murray has a degree from Oxford, so he is probably intelligent enough to know what he's doing in terms of his comedy Laughing

I get what it's supposed to be, I just don't get why he's so popular. It's not funny.

In your opinion. I think it's great personally. A refreshing and original chatshow format from ITV of all people.
