Do you know what the ratings were for Rising Damp compared with CITV?

I think CITV is much better suited to 3.30-5.00pm. Most kids are still in school at 3pm so unable to watch it - I know they show some pre school programmes as well but still it would be better with a 3.30pm start.

If they can't give it back to the kids, they should devote the slot to regional output.

Lately UTV have been using the 4:30pm slot as a chance to show repeats of the previous week's regional programmes, namely Gerry Meets and Home Sweet Home. They usually show the repeats on a Sunday afternoon for anyone who misses them but when there isn't space available in the schedule they use the new 4:30pm Monday and Tuesday slots.

so what's the deal with the real reason fro shifting CITV. IMHO CITV should be at the end of daytime programming (and extended to 2 hours) - i.e. between 4pm and 6pm. To me its a dead slot - adults are either going to be watching their own programming on either BBC2, C4 or five whilst children will be watching their programmes on BBC (thus building up loyalty to the BBC!!!). ITV has no real decent programmes in the late afternoon.

IMHO, if i was ITV's scheduler I would do the daytime as...

0925 GMTV extended
0930 The Jeremy Kyle Show
1030 This Morning
1215 Regional News; Regional Weather
1230 ITV News; ITV Weather
1300 Des and Mel, Richard Hammond, Loose Women, Bradley Walsh
1400 Gameshows
1430 Factual Programmes
1500 Factual Programmes
1530 Shortland Street
1600 CITV - Pre-school series f/b Birthday greetings
1615 CITV - Pre-school series
1635 CITV - Animation
1700 CITV -
Monday
1700 Factual Series'
1730 British Drama
Tuesday
1700 Gameshows
1730 Magpie, Splash, Freetime
Wednesday
1700 Up2U, Skillz, British Fly-on-the-wall, British Documentaries, etc...
1730 Magpie, Splash, Freetime
Thursday
1700 Gameshows
1730 Magpie, Splash, Freetime
Friday
1700 British Factual Series'
1730 British Comedy Series'

this way the daytime is well defined - most of it is programming for people at home, then last 2 hours are for children just before prime-time begins with the evening news. But, of course, investment into children's programming is urgently needed to claw back a lot of the lost viewers - plus it would give some real competition to CBBC as well!

much better than the mish mash of a schedule we have today!!!

IMO, ITV are lost for scheduling, they should just give back that time slot back to CITV.
